I sooo wanted to like this stuff. Sometimes I'm able to get a decent amount in the right place, but most of the time, I'm too close to the edge and it leaks out ruining the card, or too far from the edge and the edge looks loose.
Any suggestions??

I try to squeeze just a little, and "scribble" the tip along the edge, not too close. Maybe about 1/8" from the edge of the paper? Keep trying--it's great stuff!
I find it best to be careful not to squeeze the bottle!! What I do is shake it a few times to jar the glue to the tip, and then very gently squeeze it to get some on the paper. All I do is little dots of it in the corners and a few around the edges, and I find it works great. I do have some leakage out the sides sometimes, but I too am learning. ;)

That's exactly what I do. I hate those tape runners. I've been using the liquid for over a year. You're right, you get use to it, the pressure you need the fine line you need, just takes time.
Personally, I love this stuff and am thankful to the person who provided the link to get it at $1.99 a bottle. When using Mono Multi for cards I draw a thin line of glue near the edge and if I'm worried about it being too far away or too much in a spot, I use the squeegee edge to spread it out.
I think it was Mamakimberly who suggested "a thread line" of glue. That helped me get a visual of how much to use. I do occasionally still have a little glue leak out from under the edges, but not often. I agree about the 1/8 inch from the edge--that's what I do.
I went to a stamp night with my soon-to-be-upline last week. I had a blast, but everything we made with the snail has since come apart. Grr. I love my mono multi--just don't use it on ribbon!
