Default Spectrum Pad Method

I just saw a really awesome card in today's gallery that used a pretty big stamp (bigger than a spectrum pad) and a spectrum pad!!

So, my question is, how do you ink that stamp with all the color if it's bigger than the pad?

I'm befuddled :?

Some people don't like to but you can "rub" the pad across the stamp from one side to another. You can also be very careful and do it again above or below if the stamp is longer than the pad.

Or you can ink up a brayer & use the brayer to apply ink to the stamp.

Remember when using your brayer with your spectrum pad to keep it open. You can ink up the brayer, transfer the color to a surface that wont dry quickly and then ink the stamp or you can roll the brayer right across the stamp if the brayer is big enough.

CRAP! You're supposed to keep the spectrum pad open when you use a brayer??? Good thing I've only done that once!! Live and learn!

That's what I was told. It keeps the colors from bleeding together too much.

OOPS! So glad I decided to read about this topic. NO WONDER I was having a problem with my colors bleeding! UGH! The problem really isn't too bad, I have done it only once or twice...and since I was mad about it ruining my spectrum pad I have not used it since.

I guess I can use it now that I know how to "use" it correctly.

THANKS!

Default Brayer and spectrum pad

Thanks for the helpful hint. I too did not know to use my brayer with the pad open. Live and learn. I am doing a resist card with my brayer thanks for teaching me something new.
