Ideas for 70 year old card?

My FIL is turning 70 and DH asked if I wanted to make a card or if he should pick one up. He was at the mall so he looked and Hallmark doesn't have 70 yr old cards? WTH? So he said he got a funny one but I would love to make one reflecting this milestone.
Any ideas?

I think I will make the numbers using my Slice machine but that is as far as the brain storming has gone :)

I try to marry in hobbies and likes as well into special cards.

I guess the hardest part for me is a saying. What should I say inside the card?

Funny I just read your question. My mom is 83 and not doing well mentally. I have made her many, many cards over the years and she has kept all of them, proudly displayed all over her house. The only one I have never seen is the one that I had put, "Happy 80th..." on. When she was still able to communicate and I asked her about it and she said, "I still have it, I just don't like to look at it and remember how old I am." Made me sad that without even thinking, I hurt her feelings. But, now I don't put numbers on elderly people's cards. Just some really nice words inside. My one exception is on big anniversaries because they're usually proud that they have done what lots of other couples no longer can do! Good luck.

By the time we get old (and I am) we don't really want to be reminded of it. I'd go funny....

Most people don't "feel" their age - I would go for a hobby, funny card rather that focus on the "years"!! Just my 2c worth

Ditto! Celebrate instead of a reminder. May God bless, Sandi

I think the best thing is to try to assess if your subject is proud of their years .... I have sent out a Happy 80th Birthday recently and got feedback from overseas from several people whom the recipient showed it to. This person was having parties and celebrations, however if they are treating it fairly low key then that might be an indication etc.;)

There is a excel sheet probably in downloads on this board that has many sayings and greetings for all sorts of occasions. http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...d.php?t=216446

Thanks everyone.
I am going to mail him a nice card w/Thomas Kinkade fisherman or something else I might come up with. We will send his gift cards in that. For the party we have a funny one to give him.
Thanks and I am downloading the thread. Thanks for that!
