I think I'm already regretting
I started unmounting my wood stamps and I think I'm already regretting it. I like the space, but I miss being able to see the name of the sets. I've only done words so far, but how can easily tell what is where? I'm labeling the outside of the DVD case, but it's not like you can see it on the spine and just grab one without looking through the whole stack on the shelf.
I could use some ideas and some HOPE!!

I understand. If you can't get the labels onto the unmounted rubber, this option may not be for you. There are so many unmounted on ez foam stamps that I would love to have, but no longer buy because I "need" the image in my face when I'm stamping or looking for a stamp.

Su's cling stamps are in DVD cases, and the images (reduced to a teeny tiny size) and name are on the spine. Could you scan and reduce the images from your wood blocks and do this?
Or, maybe you could stamp an index image and do the same thing with it?

Before you unmount you could stamp the images with Stazon on to clear mailing label paper ( it comes in 8 1/2 x 11) then you would have all the images to either put on your rubber or anything else you may want to do with them.

Undo will get any label off and leave the stick! I have used the Stazon method for y unmounted stamps...but I would never unmount on on wood. I have to see the image too Joan!

Thanks for all of you replies.
I have transferred most of the labels to the stamps. It's the spine labels that I am missing. I miss looking at the shelf and seeing what set is in each case.

How about using your Word program to "print" appropriate lables for the spines? You can categorize by theme, sayings, or whatever suits you best!
Once the spine labels are printed, you can run them through a Xyron to create a sticky-back or a sticky-front label ... which is easily changed per your whim. ;)

Just about all the office supply stores have free downloads of templates for their products. Look for the DVD case insert one that fits your cases. Sometimes you have to download their program. I just go to Avery and download the ones I need for MS Word. HTH

I just go into Word and bring up a labels document- I can get 4 titles per label and then run the label sheet through my printer, peel off the label and cut the 4 titles apart and stick to the spine. I peel the labels off because I dont want to cut into the label sheet and not be able to use it to run through the printer again.

I totally get where you are coming from. I recently separated my stamp sets and have them in drawers (in a unit from Best Products) Before doing this I stamped each image and put them to pages in a binder. I keep that binder close at hand to see what I have and what would fix.
That being said, for me having too many stamps was the biggest problem. I really purged through my sets and got rid of ones I am not or have ever used. Also I was able to get rid of some stamps within a set that were not seeing any ink.
I am not going to unmount my current wood mounted sets, but with the new option I will purchase non wood stamps.

I just did these labels with Publisher, but you could easily do them with Word as well...I added a decorative strip to the top to dress them up a bit, and you could scan your images and shrink them to fit on the spine, but I wasn't that ambitious. If I couldn't find the digial image of the stamps online, I just stamped them on the front of the label and then slid them into the sleeve.

Great idea! I think I'm headed out to find CD cases this weekend. I'm not really ready to unmount my wood stamps, but I have so many clear stamps that I never use because they are buried in a pile and I can't see what I've got. When I tried using binders like Jennifer McGuire I just reach for the same sets over and over instead of flipping through the pages of the binder. Maybe this would get my sets out in front of me to easily see & use!

Why can't you just write the name of the set on the spine with a sharpie?

you can reduce the actual stamped images so the images IS on the spine.

TexasGrammy, I like your idea using the Xyron. The spines are very thin, but I think that would work and then I could change it if I decide to move things around.
Thanks everyone!

Oh, that looks so nice! Now I want to redo mine, lol! I have just been using the label maker to make titles for the spine.
