Default I need help figuring out why I need a Xyron!

I keep reading posts about Xyron this, Xyron that. I have two sticker makers that I won. Beyond that, I have no Xyron products. So what can they do, what do I use it for? Can you use them to take the place of using mono or other adhesives?

Help me, please!

You MUST get a XYRON!!!

I just bought a XYRON 510 2 weeks ago with a coupon at JoAnn's. My Christmas card this year calls for SU swirls vellum in 5" x 3 3/4" sheet. I never liked using vellum much before, because the adhesive always showed through and I had to cover the corners with eyelets, ribbon or other embellishments. I saw the larger XYRON advertised on QVC one night and I decided to get one. I cut 40 pieces of the vellum and fed them one behind another, through the machine. Perfect fit, since the XYRON 510 fits paper up to 5 1/2" wide. I made one continuous sheet of swirls vellum. The 40 pieces took up the entire 18 ft roll of adhesive that came with the machine. When I was done, I just peeled each sheet of vellum off of the backing and stuck it to my cardstock. PERFECT...no adhesive showing through, since the entire piece was covered in adhesive. It also made it really easy to cut, since I turned them into spinner cards, and had to cut through the vellum AND card stock together. I love this machine. I went back and bought 2 more rolls of adhesives just to find something else to 'stick'. Its a good investment, if you use a coupon, you can ge tit for $25-30.

I just ordered the 510. I did glitter windows for the first time the other day and just fell in love with them. I didn't want to be limited to 1.5 inches with my 150. You can also use certain models to laminate or make magnets. I can't wait for it to get here. It comes with an idea book so hopefully there will be more suggestions in there.

Default Anything that will fit!

I have put so many things through mine.

I like to turn scrap fun foam into double adhesive tape for use with shaker boxes or as pop dots.

There is no easier way to make Serendipity squares from your scraps. I couldn't imagine doing that with a glue stick or Mono.

I have done a lot of altered cds and the cds go through the Xyron 510 just fine.

I have also run acetate through and pearl ex-ed the sticky side (kind of like glitter window I am guessing).

Also, I have put fabric cut outs and heavy, embroidered trim through it for great adhesion. This worked great for a lattice-like ribbon that I needed for a border. I needed it to stick and be perfectly smooth for my project ---and it was!

I was a great investment for me. Since I have it, I use it. Oldest son just had a project we used it on. (I used my Heart of Africa wheel on that, too.)

Now, that's the end-of for lists. I found it BEST for multiples. And once run through it can sit there indefinitely as it will have a backing and a cover. Use then, at will.

I would NEVER have had enough points to get it mine through SU. I bought it and three cartridges from Shop at Home (not to be confused with Home Shopping Network) for $80 and it took less than a week to get here. Arrived yesterday, I ordered last Sunday. And it's in real Xyron boxes so I'll be exchanging the repositionable cartridge for a permanent cartridge. I just can't find a real use for 40 feet of repositionable (aka post it) adhesive.

please look at wilde-ideas.com. No, I do not own part of the company, nor do I get kick-backs. They have great service and fast delivery times AND great prices. Price breaks on shipping, too. Carry lots of stuff - where I bought my xyron and xyron supplies, Twinkling H2Os, Perfect Paper, StazOn stuff, etc.

Okay, I'm ready to take the plunge, but after going to the website, I don't know if I want a 900 or a 850. The only difference I can see is that one will do an 8.5" and one will do a 9" piece. The 900 is way less money.....can anyone tell me why?

The 850 will do something called a 4" split cartridge. Maybe for smaller projects so there's not a lot of side waste?? I would sugget that you call wilde-ideas.com and ask. Web site has phone number. They have great customer service.

I love my 900, definitely worth the money and I got it for way less than wilde whatever! I got it plus 3 cartridges for $80, defitely a great deal. All totaled from wilde it would have been $141 with shipping and cartridges. I am very happy getting mine where I did and as fast as I did. 6 days and a Saturday delivery to boot!!

Kymbers-Stamping could you please post a link as shopathome.com only seems to be a catalog site. Thanks so much.

A great use for the repositionable xyron is masking!! I've tried using post its, but when they get wet they either leak or curl. Using Xyroned Whisper White is THE BEST way to mask!

I got mine about a month ago, and I've used it only a couple times, but love it. I've turned Alphabits into stickers and made this card
