Default White Ink on Brown

Does anyone know of a white computer ink that can be used on brown cardstock? My neice wants wedding invitations on brown with white printing.

The only thing I can think of is doing a reverse image. Use white paper, print the background in brown leaving the letters white. I'm afraid that if there is such a thing out there, it will be more $$ than custom invites. :(

A regular ink jet printer can't print in white--only combinations of black, red, blue, and yellow. It would be awesome if it could, though!

About a year ago a friend of mine wanted that same thing ... they were SO expensive! She really, really wanted them though so she compromised and got them for the rehearsal dinner. They were very "hip" looking, very different. But she had to have them done - the white was raised.

The reason you can't get white ink for your standard, run-of-the-mill printers is because it has to be thicker, like craft ink. It would totally gum everything up and you would be dealing with clogged up printer problems! Most places that print them use a machine that actually embosses the print on to the card. That is why the print is "raised".

Default White Ink on Brown

Unless there was some new technology out there, I knew that there was no way our standard printer and ink was going to do the job, but thanks for responding, anyway.

On my printer... Each printer is unique of course.... but I can print on vellum (any color...so maybe brown?) and then the ink is still wet...so I can Emboss the words (use white embossing powder?) try it and see! Maybe anther slick paper would work too... SU cards stock won't; as the ink will dry too quickly. I would also try actually printing the words in a light color other than Black... maybe a pale blue ink color with white (detail) EP would work.... alll you need is the brown Vellum.

I did a birthday card last night using chocolate brown basal paper and embossed some of the flowers and writing in white. Looks pretty cool (if I may say so). However, to do wedding invitations in these colors, I would suspect that a printing comapny would have to do it.

Back in the day, for my wedding, I had teal napkins printed with white, so it is possible...but I don't know how much it would cost...unfortunately technology for homes has not progressed that much..it would be nice, though! The only way to get that look at home would be to stamp with white and emboss...is there such a thing as a general wedding announcement stamp? It sounds like it would be beautiful with white and brown! Sorry we could not be of more help!

How about a brown base card, but print on vellum in brown and then attach that to the base card?

http://scrapability.squarespace.com/...ared-with-you/ has a.pdf file on printing white on black...although the "White" is the absence of color on a printed dark background. I agree with the other posts that you would have to have these professionally done.
