I have always thought of fall as the true start of a new year (must be the back-to-school thing). I have let my craft supplies languish all summer and I'm ready to create now that I have an almost empty house (the youngest has one more year at home, but he's doing preschool two days a week - YAY!). So I have started in on the desk and piles of stuff, and I'm sort of horrified to find that even if I did go shopping for new stuff, I really don't have room for anything else! Ribbon boxes? Overflowing. Brads & eyelets? Every compartment filled. Paper? Don't even go there!
So I'm challenging myself for the month of September to make 30 cards and not buy anything new! I will only use stuff I already have on hand (adhesive doesn't count, though!) I'm really hoping my August club order comes in before September 1st, so that I can use the Boho Friend wheel!
Wish me luck and thanks for visiting my gallery to keep up with me!

Ohhh, that sounds like fun! I don't know if I can stay out of the stores that long though! I have been challenging myself this month to use as much as I can from my scraps and from packages of stuff that are almost empty. Doing pretty good, especially with the scrap paper.
I'd love to try to do 30 cards... BUT to not buy ANYTHING... Couldn't stand it... I think buying goodies is part of the joy of this hobby!!! But 30 cards - that's respectable!!! You go girl and let us know how you are doing!!!

You mean we are suppose to put ink on all those stamps and stamp sets we just had to buy??? Good luck on your challenge and can't wait to see what you create.

Well, I'm getting ready! I cleaned off a workspace, put a whole mess of scraps in the right places, and got my favorite pair of scissors sharpened at J's on Friday. Yes, I went in the store, and the only thing I bought was... Adhesive! I was pretty proud of myself, but with DH and 3 kids waiting in the car, it was easier to hurry. I'm actually getting kind of weird about this challenge - I have old catalogs and magazines in all the bathrooms in the house so I never waste a minute when I could be looking for cards to CASE. DH thinks I'm a nut, but he appreciates my challenge. Especially since he just bought a Harley, and of course needs all kinds of accessories... I think he finally understands the supply cravings!!
It's amazing what you find when you start cleaning things out. I found a box - a clear one, no less - on a shelf in my craft room (which also doubles as the guest room and dh's overflow crap closet) that had a pretty thick layer of dust on the lid. Lo and behold, I found a bunch of cards I'd made at a crop more than six months ago. My first thought was, well there's part of my challenge completed already! But that would be cheating, and I know I don't have to do that! I know this challenge will remind me why I invested in all those sets in the first place, and I'll get some fun new stuff as a reward! So I'm uploading the pictures now into an album called When You Clean Out a Box, so I'm not tempted to pull one out when the month gets hectic!
Thanks for checking them out!
My sister requested 'boy birthday cards' so last week I printed out all the past sketch challenges, and started with page 1 to give me inspiration. I made 24 different cards (4 of each card, 96 total!) using sports/boy sets over a few days. I didn't case any of the cards but just having the layout sketches really made it easy to do!
What a great idea---I think I will challenge myself to get back to the Christmas Card Challenge and use up my dsp, that I have been hoarding. Let me see, i quit the challenge in March, so at 10 cards a month since then, I need to make........Oh heck, I will just try to do 30 as well. Thanks for the challenge to get my butt in gear!
Good luck! That's a wonderful goal. If you don't have that many occasions for which you need cards in the month, you'll have a good stash on-hand, too! I need to get better about building up an on-hand stash! Maybe I'll try this with you!
You go! That is a great challenge! I have alot of scraps and whatnot that I could take and make several cards without cutting a new piece of cardstock or dp. I might try to use up what I have for september, that would make a great dent in my stash!
You guys are all so sweet to be interested in me! I have really had fun over the last few weeks looking at all your galleries - you're all so talented!
I got up early this morning and got to work. I needed to send a "you're wonderful" card to a friend, and I have two birthdays coming up, but I just wasn't in a birthday kind of mood, so I created some other cards. I ended up with three this morning before the kids got up - yay! Thanks for checking them out! My Challenge Album
I was able to put this together quickly over lunch - DS wanted to watch a movie with his lunch so I got to escape for a minute! TFL! My Challenge Gallery

Natalie - that's fantastic! I think it's a wonderful idea and send you LUCK! There are so many new stamp releases going on right now - Kudos to you for sticking to your guns and I'll be peekin' at your gallery! You can do it! :-D
Yesterday was great! It was raining so DH was home (he's an ironworker, so rain = no work, and also no $, but I do get to spend the day with him ) and he took our youngest to run errands! I had almost three hours to play! Of course I did laundry and dishes and spent some time cruising the forums here, but then I went in to CREATE!!! I just got pictures today after the rain let up, and sent them to my Challenge Album. Thanks for checking out what I got done!!! My Challenge Gallery!
Is anyone else playing with me? I'd love to see what you're up to, too!

I had a really crazy weekend, a getting ready for it was almost as insane as the event itself! I have to make thanks cards, so when I get them done I'll explain it all. BUT - to get myself back in the groove, I just dove into my supplies and this is what I came up with! My Challenge Gallery!
I had some strange stuff in my stash, like the pink corded seam tape (what was I thinking? It was on clearance, but otherwise, who knows?). That got the creative juices flowing, and I got started on the thanks cards without a whole lot of whining!
Thanks for all your comments and support. This has been really good for me to get back on the Make It Train! Hugs!
I got sidetracked while working on the thanks cards, but I did get them done. I needed a "thinking of you" card and didn't have any that were really right, so I made one last night. TFL! My Challenge Gallery!
I'm involved with our local volunteer fire department, so is my DH, and we just had our biggest fundraiser of the year - IN THE RAIN! All the volunteer fire fighters and their families were so great and so helpful, and I wanted to send them an extra thankyou to let them know how much I appreciated it. So I made these, and as of this evening I'm done writing in them and addressing envelopes too!
Even though they were work, I felt like it was cheating to say I'd gotten an additional 20 cards since they were all the same. So I'm only counting it as one, 'cause it didn't require any extra creativity to do anything but the first one! Made a dent in the gold ribbon stash, however, so that was cool!
Thanks everyone for your support in this - it's been so hard to look through the gallery at all the amazing stuff you gals do and not click over to those shopping sites..., not run to the LSS for something you inspired me with...
I can tell you that my first purchase is going to be those Cuttlebug Embossing Folders!!!!! Too stinking cute for words!
Thanks!
Gee - I think you could have give yourself a little more credit for 20 cards... that's a ton of work!
Watch out for the CB embossing folders - they are addicting!!! Just when you think you have enough the create more wonderful ones that you have to have!!!

Well dang, you are inspiring me to get off my duff and get to it as well! No purchases - aaaaarrrrrrrgghh - only stuff that I have - breathe, breathe - dear heavens I have to use my stash! Thanks for the inspiration Natalie!
With a stamp collection and a paper selection, I'm a scrappin' with myself...
Well, it was another crazy weekend with sports and street fairs in the rain, and my chimney leaks so my kitchen floor is covered in towels. We have family in Florida and Texas, so I'm not complaining too much about my own water issues - trying to stay busy praying for them and all of the coastal residents. I know the rain and wind has pretty much covered the eastern half of the US, so I hope you all have stayed safe and dry!
I did need some cards for this week, so I got these finished late Saturday night. I missed my regular crop due to a very cold wet muddy football game (DS's team won and the mud came out of DD's cheerleading outfit, too!), but I put everyone to bed and had my own solo crop. Thanks for checking them out!
I couldn't sleep last night, but everyone else crashed early, which is unheard of at my house. We're both night owls, so of course our kids are total night owls too. I was able to play (I almost typed work there ;)) from 9:30 until I realized that even though the kids didn't have school, I should probably get a little sleep... Okay, it was 3:45!
Anyhoo... I had fun, and look what I created!
I also made two Christmas cards, but those are for a later unveiling... I might have a market, thanks to my DB and SIL!
I had some more play time, and added a few things to my gallery! Thanks so much for checking them out - and constructive comments are always welcome - I really think all the input is helping me grow as an artist.
I was digging through some old stuff because of another thread here and had fun using some older supplies. Don't regret buying a thing!!!
Well, I got 31 cards made, and I got several things organized too. Looking for supplies to use and stuff to play with has been a lot of fun! It's kind of surprising how much stuff I have left, though... maybe I should extend my challenge another month... NAH!!!!! The desire for CB embossing folders has become a full-blown NEED! Plus I passed up all the coupon sales last month, just got my Archivers flyer for October my emails from m's and j's. I'm shopping!!! The good news is that I think I can be a little more selective now, and really get stuff I'm going to use and enjoy.
It's been a great month - thanks so much for all your support and for checking out my cards. Your constructive comments are always welcome - I find them very helpful for creating with those same stamps later!
