How's Our Florida Members Doing?
Now that T.S. Fay has made landfall in Florida, I hope all of our Fla. members are safe and sound. Have heard reports of power outages and flash flooding. I live on the Georgia coast, about an hour south of Savannah, and the winds are picking up here. We need the rain here, so that will be welcome, it's the thunderstorms and tornado threats that make me nervous.

I'm having a Fay Day. Some pretty strong wind gusts, but not many. A lot of rain. And the best part is - I have the day off! I'm playing in my stamping room and not coming out 'til the rest of the family drags me out. We did lose our power for a few hours, but it's back on now and I can see to stamp.
BTW - thanks for asking.

I'm in southeast Hillsborough. Not as much bad weather as we expected but we still have a few hours before the larger bands make it's way up. The big risk now is for tornadoes & flooding. The winds aren't as high as before...and if you're a storm veteran you're not worried about a measly 55 mph wind. So the danger factor is really gone from this thing.
No trash pick up today...but we got mail!

Glad to hear that it doesn't have the punch that was expected. Take care we will keep you in our prayers for this to pass quickly without too much damage.

Hi all ~ Im in Miami and it went thru here without much hayday. They did close the schools yesterday and today (first day of school!) but it was mostly so kiddies weren't standing in the pouring, torrential rains waiting for buses or outside schools. Lots of wind, lots of rain, some flash flooding - not too bad. We've seen some horrible storms and this was easy breezy. It'a actually the "calm after the storm" right now outside. Good luck to all and thanks for asking!

I live in Central Florida and got the day off from work because of the storm. Fay has not arrived in this area yet, but from what I see on the TV, I don't think we're going to be in trouble. It appears to be going east of us, so we shouldn't be in the northeast quadrant, which is where the most tornadoes are created. I imagine we will get lots of rain because it's moving really slow.

I'm in Melbourne; it's raining here and somewhat windy. Brevard County schools are closed today and I just saw online that they will be closed tomorrow.
I am off work today but I expect to be going back tomorrow.

I am just south of orlando and it is a just a cloudy, rainy day with occassional gusts of wind. I just got in from a week long road trip with two of my four kids and I woke up with a cold and have no desire to do much of anything so this weather is perfect for me. haha
As clownmom said, it is going to the east of me so I don't expect to get much else except for a few days of this type of weather.

Glad to hear everyone is fine. I lived all over Florida growing up, so I've been through several hurricanes before. Yep, this one is tame compared to others, but the tornadoes that can spawn from these systems can pop up without much warning sometimes. Enjoy the rest of your day and continue to stay safe.

I'm in Jacksonville area and its supposed to be heading our way...we should start feeling the first part of the storm tonight. According to recent reports, it looks like Fay is being tricky and heading out to the Atlantic before coming to us...

Hi Robin, love the new picture. I've been thinking about you and all our other buddies in FL. I'm glad everyone seem to be doing OK. I hope you were able to use your day off productively (i.e., stamping(.

which really kind of worries me....because she could build up more power while over the water and if she stalls after coming ashore again she will dump a lot of water on an area that is already saturated! I'm North of Jacksonville.....almost in GA!

Glad everyone is o.k. in Florida. We in the Tennessee Valley are sure hoping
to get some rain from Fay. We are parched! Another year of drought. You
really learn to appreciate rain. I had heard yesterday that parts of Florida may
get 12" and I was wishing we could have a bit of that..of course, without
the winds and tornadoes.

Yep, they just said that it could strengthen while out at sea and turn back in and hit somewhere on the south Ga. north Fla. coast. I'm about 20 miles north of Brunswick. They were saying too, that they were very surprised that this storm did actually strengthen some while on land, which is unusual. Just stay alert and prepare, that's all we can do for now I guess.

I know exactly where you are! North Florida used to be my old stomping grounds, so to speak, LOL. Hillard, Callahan, etc.. It's been years since I've been back down that way, but I have many fond memories. Lived in North Fla. pretty much all my life. Used to pretty much live on the beaches of Little Talbot Island. I understand that it's pretty much built up now though. Back then, we felt like we had our own private beach, and used to camp alot. Well, my dad owned a construction company and we traveled alot with him on long jobs, especially when I was small and during the summer when school was out. Attended Mattie V. Rutherford Elementary, Kirby Smith Jr. High, and Andrew Jackson High School. I love living on the Georgia Coast, but in my heart, I'll always be a Gator, LOL.

I'm in Titusville. So far just steady rain (nothing very heavy for very long it seems) and some wind gusts. I think it is supposed to get worse (more thunderstorms) later this evening.

I'm in Titusville and it's been a rainy, yucky day! The winds have picked up now and the rain is coming in squally bands, but so far so good <crossing fingers>. The kids were out of school today and will be again tomorrow. DH works at Kennedy Space Center and was home today and the center is closed until at least noon tomorrow. Our weather radio has been going off throughout the day with various watches and warnings for the county, but we haven't had anything too severe--yet.

I'm about thirty miles inland from Brunswick, Georgia. This storm can't seem to make up its mind where it's going. I don't mind rain so much, but I can do without the wind and tornado activity. Hopefully, it will not strengthen & just take rain to some of the drought areas. My daughter lives in W Palm Beach, Florida & said they didn't get much from the storm except rain. Thank goodness. I'll just pray it doesn't do much damage. Nice to know there are a few SCSers fairly close to me.

I'm in Fleming Island, where it's very grey and gloomy but at least (for now anyway) they have retracted the forecast that had Fay coming at us as a hurricane. Next update 8am, so we shall see....

South Tampa here - I don't think we've had two drops of rain all week. Just completely missed us. I had to water my trees yesterday, ironically.

Yeah, they were reporting that they most likely will bump Fay up to Category 1 today when she strengthens in the Atlantic....and now she's headed straight towards St. Augustine, where I live. The majority of the stoplights were already not working this morning on my way to Jax. I hope my office closes! We've already had a client meeting cancelled...
Oh, and I saw a gas station with dirt surrounding the pumps? Like three huge mounds? On the outside, inside and other outside? Is this something to do with the storm? Obviously I'm new at this

I'm in Port St. Lucie. I guess we sustained the worst rains and winds, if the people on TV are to be believed! This storm has really made a mess for us here in town and in the surrounding areas. Cars have been abandoneded on roads. Roads are flooded. On Port St. Lucie Blvd I saw a reporter standing in water up to her thighs.
All in all, it was not a bad storm compared to a hurricane. Not once did I fear that the house was going to just fall down due to the high winds.
I sure hope those of you in GA and TN and Mississippi get some rain, but not hurricaine-strength winds. Best wishes to you all!!

I'm in Melbourne, where Fay has been hanging since yesterday. Students started school on Monday, but it was cancelled Tue-Thurs because of high winds/flooding. Buses can't go over the causeways if the winds are 40+ mph. There go my lesson plans for the week! The biggest thing is the rain because Fay has stalled. Some areas have been hit with an inch of rain an hour. We have been told to expect 12 more inches today. That really adds up quickly. Winds aren't that bad and there haven't been too many tornadoes. There is flooding and sewage leakage so they say don't walk, etc. in the flooded water. Overall, compared to past experience, this is really not much of an inconvenience, other than school being out. News papers and mail have been delivered today. I think there has only been one death in FL so far, but 5 or 6 in Haiti, Cuba, etc. before it came to the US. It could always be worse!

Go away Fay!
Mmmm. East Coast of Florida.....A-1-A, Sebastian Inlet, Indian and Banana Rivers, Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral......worked and lived there for many years and loved everything about Brevard County!
Am on the West Coast now (Bradenton) and Fay missed us completely. Thank you Jesus.
Will say a prayer for all those on the East coast as they say Fay is heading toward St. Augustine next after hanging around way too long in Melbourne.
Go away Fay!
