Question how to store?

how do you store your loose stamps, such as the dollar stamps from mikes..and other misc. ones. mine are all thrown in a drawer..so i have to dig for them. i would like to store them in a different way. so i can actually see what i have.

any suggestions would be great!!

thanks much!

I unmount them and put on creative cling and store in CD cases. Saves alot of space and keeps them handy.

I have a couple of the rolling carts that have 7 drawers (3 large, 4 small). I have my loose stamps neatly put into the smaller drawers of it. It works pretty well for me.

I use our SU empty stamp boxes. I'm using a couple different sizes, but mainly the biggest ones. I started out by shuffling SU sets from boxes that were too big for the amount of stamps in them into smaller ones & put my non-SU stamps in them, if that makes sense. Unfortunately I don't have actual storage for those other than a regular cardboard box right now, but I do like this works for me.

I keep most of them in one of my Sterlite 3-drawer units. Seasonal ones I pull out and keep them on my bookcase as decorations, plus it reminds me to use them. My bookcase currently still looks very Valentiney

I use flat paper carriers. My stamps right in them and lay flat and the best thing about it was they were really cheap!

I do the same as maryp, put them in empty plastic stamp containers. My BGs are all out of their containers, so I use those.

I have an over the door shoe rack with about 14 pockets on it. I separate them into each pocket by theme. This has workd well for me and I bought the shoe rack at WM for about 6.00.

I keep them in stacked cardboard photo boxes (from Mikes for around $2 on sale). I make a copy (either stamped or photocopy the back side of the stamp) of the image and put in a binder to see the size of the block. Each photo box contains only certain size blocks (on the outside of the box I have taped a piece of cardstock cut to the size of the blocks inside) so I know which box to search in. I also have boxes just for alpha sets and two for backgrounds. Works for me...

I store my loose stamps in the clear plastic box frames that you can buy from Mikes. If you wanted get really organized you could put a sheet of paper in the bottom of the frame and stamp the location of each stamp, so you would alway know where it goes.

I put mine in those 12x12 plastic storage boxes. You could even label them: birthday, christmas, flowers, words, etc., so you know which box to grab.

I AM going to unmount them all and put them in CD cases though. I'm going to start with all my non-SU stamps first, till I can build up the courage to unmount my SU stamps as well.

I store all mine in Project Cases...I get them at Office Depot...I even store my SU cases in my project cases and them label them. They sit sideways on my shelves and the labels are on the sides so I know exactly where the stamp is that I need. They have gone up in price (probably cause of me).If you buy 3 at the time they are discounted..I think about 6.49 a case or about 7.00 if you just buy one. I'm up to 51 and need about 4 more. I'm like you...I don't want to unmount my stamps.

I've seen pix in the gallery where folks store stamps that aren't part of a set in pizza boxes. They have each box labelled with a theme and then all their single stamps of that theme in that box.

Don't forget that SU sells empty storage boxes - page 235 of the current *big* catalog...

new pizza boxes work for me - did this several years ago & I think they charged me 50 cents a box (maybe less on the smaller size) - they usually come flat, so when I put them together, I just put the logo side inside - nice uniform, stackable boxes, easy to label, for next to nothing.

I use clear plastic containers from Dollar General.
These are heavy duty, see-through and pretty reasonably
priced. Thanks for all the other great ideas, girls.

For the stamps that I haven't remounted with the EZ Mount stuff, I use clear box frames that work as drawers in the stamp cabinet my mom made me. Only the one side has mounted stamps. The other side is now being used for other storage.

Right now mine are all thrown in a box, but what I would so love to have is a map chest. Not exactly this one, but something similar. The drawers are not deep since they are made to store ships maps in flat.

My sis and I ordered a case of clear clamshell cases (like SU uses without the logo) from a company online (think Planco or Placo -- will have to check the name again.

Anyway I have a surplus that I have been using for:
1. My loose stamps (and catagorizing them too)
2. My twinkling H2O's
3. My MM rubon's
4. Other brand stamp pads (like Stazon/Versa)
5. Ink Cartridges

I love them because like SU clam shell cases they are clear and I can see immediately which case I need to take off the shelf to use.

Mine are on a shelf. They are sorted by case size and then in alpha order. I made labels with my label maker which are easier for me to see/read than the ones that come with the stamp sets.

I too use the clear plastic frames. You can also use shoe box lids, or any flat box. M's had some small candle tins in their $ bins that were in trays about 1" deep. Needless to say, everytime I go in there I get one - they're free, they're all the same size, and they stack well. One day I'll get around to altering them, but for now I just turn them so the all white side faces out on the shelf. And they're just the right size to stack 2 in a 12x12 artbin case.

I am one of those people that seperate my stamps by category and put them in the 6 drawer towers by category (birthday, thank you, shapes, flowers, etc) works perfectly for me.

I stamp each stamp I buy onto White cardstock and put it in a notebook. Then I color code the page with one of those colored dots like a price tag. I put the stamps in big stacking baskets and color code the baskets too. I also put a little dot on the stamp so I know which basket to put it back to when I'm done. I still have to look through the basket (one or two layers) to find it but it is the easiest way I have found. Usually the stamps I use the most are on top anyway. But having the notebook helps me remember what I have and gives me ideas sometimes I didn't think of. I don't keep them by theme except Christmas because I didn't want to have to reorganize every year.

Default Shelves for loose stamps

Check out the shelves my dad made me for my birthday last year! I found a picture in an old Creating Keepsakes magazine, and he made some that matched my room. I could not get them to upload to the thread, but they're in my gallery!
