How much do you charge for personalized cards?

I thinking about selling cards.
I was wondering how much people charge for cards that they make?

inkylady 06-06-2005 02:31 PM

When I do craft fairs, I sell them for $2 each or 6 for $10. They sell pretty well at that pricing. I've done larger orders before, and if they are all the same design, without a lot of embellishing, I sell them for $1 each.

christallippincott 06-06-2005 02:34 PM

Thank you

I was thinking about 2.50, but maybe that was too much.

Thanks a lot.

Pegasong 06-06-2005 02:39 PM

I keep a basket of cards I've made beside my desk at work. If someone wants a card on short notice, they come see me. I charge $2.50 each. If they buy 10 cards, it's $20.00.

Joan B 06-07-2005 02:29 AM

I like that basket idea!!

Julzz 06-07-2005 03:26 AM

I do craft fairs all year long...I use basket to display my cards on the table. I also have a card rack as a display. I sell my cards for $1.75- $3.00 depending on the embellishment...If they but 10 of the $1.75 cards they are $15.00-and if they buy 10 of the $3.00 cards they are $25.00..I have been doing this for years now and every show I do, I have never been disappointed yet...I sale a lot of cards in a year..It works for me..

If you have any more questions you can email me at

[email protected]

p.s. I also use clear card jackets to protect my cards....

stampin_sher 06-07-2005 03:43 AM

I sell mine for $2.00 for plain, $2.50 for embellished of any kind.

Brtrad 06-07-2005 06:22 AM

These are american prices so I should be able to sell the $5.00 each. :)

onlywife 06-07-2005 06:47 AM

How do you get a list of craft fairs available in your area? Do you use the clear card jackets from SU or from another source?

Zip Lock Bags

I have heard of people using ziplock bags for holding the cards. They are affordable and see through.

Poly bags

I use the 2 mil poly bags from U-Line to package my cards and envelopes. They work great, and are very cheap. I just bought 1,000 for around $20!

suerkm 06-07-2005 08:05 PM

What is U-Line? Does it have a website?

Sue

Julzz 06-08-2005 05:19 AM

Yes they do have a website just type in upline.com I also go to clearbags.com they have good prices also..

rosowskimom 06-08-2005 05:40 AM

Thanks for the clear bag resources! I also sold cards from my desk when I used to work for a large Insurance Company. I was able to charge $2 each and sold tons! I quit and haven't found an outlet to sell but would like to start getting ready in case I find a craft show or I may set a basket out at workshops/classes. Thanks again!

pinefeather 06-08-2005 05:43 AM

When I sell my cards I charge $3.00 a card or 4 for $10.00

HTH!

Lori, I was just checking out the uline website. Those really are good deals! Question - what size do you usually get? I was thinking the 5x6.

redcolt 06-08-2005 07:04 AM

I've sold a few - mostly to my sister! :) I charge her about $2.00 each, depending on whether or not I used many embellishments. I also just sold three father's day cards to a co-worker. Honestly, she was a bit of a pain to work with, so I charged $3.00 each! I know, I'm so bad....

I'd stick with the $2.00-$2.50 price range. That seems to work well and appeal to most folks I've talked to. HTH

poly bags

I too would like to know what size bags you get. It looks like uline has 5x5 or 5x7 (I didn't see any 5x6, anyway). Do you do one card per bag (what size) or sets of cards per bag (what size)? I've been thinking about trying a craft show this fall myself, so have been wondering about pricing and packaging--this thread has been helpful!

Kelann13 06-08-2005 02:35 PM

I charge $3.00 on average. $2.00 if really, really simple, no embellishments. and $6-7 for detailed cards.

It all depends on your market - that is the hard part!

Always consider your time...it is valuable!

Good luck!

Here is the link to Uline's 5x6 bags. They sell for $16 for 1000 bags (plus shipping of course). I'm planning to do a fall festival in September and I think I'm going to invest in these bags myself! I really didn't see another size that fits closer. Wish they have 1/2 sizes!

I charge $2 a card. I think people know they are getting a great deal at that price for a handmade card.

Julzz 06-09-2005 06:56 AM

I find craft fair in my area from local papers and also..If you know it is an annual one every year..I did a really big show last year, because the day before I was set up at a small town show and all the crafters around me where going to this big show the next day and said they would try to get me into it and they did. I was smiling on the way home that night trust me....I have done the spring show this year and it was better than the christmas show????? In Iowa, There big show all over the state in the fall, like the UNI dome is usually in OCT. and State fairgounds is in NOV. I go online and type in a search for Iowa Craft Fairs and something always comes up... just try it..

What type of cards do you keep in the basket? Do you put a sentiment on them or leave them blank? What's your best sellers (Birthday, Anniversary, Get Well, etc?)
