Default Old and New Stamp Pads?

Ok don't think this sounds dumb, but I hear new pads old pads. How do you tell which pads you have? I got my first pad just over a year ago, and my last this summer (they were gifts, but were brand new) So I was just wondering if mine were old or new? I have both craft and classic pads too.
I tried to find a pic of old and new but no luck, does someone have pic's to share with me?
Thanks

"Old" pads refers to before the new "flip-over-top" design. More than a few years ago (before I was a demo) SU's pads were just a normal pad with a hinged lid. The pads had to be stored upside down to keep the pad surface nice & juicy. If your pad surface is upside down when the case is closed then you have the "new" pads. Unless you swapped for your pads last year then you have the "new" design.

I think most people are referring to the style of case when they say this. They are very different...yours should be the new style, where the ink pad flips over when you close it and stays upside down when stored.

The old ones are smaller and the top simply lifts up...like a makeup compact. So the ink is stored right side up and can settle to the bottom of the ink pad...where your stamps can't reach it.

When talking about "old" vs "new" CRAFT pads -- the original "sometimes called old" craft pad is the one with the linen covering (just like the classic pad). The "new" craft pad is made of foam.

Oh yes! You must get them all! It not only will make your demonstrator happy, but as JulieHRR once said, nodding her head saying yes, yes, (in response to a demonstrator asking if she should order all the Craft Spots) your pads will be very lonely if they aren't surrounded by all of their families! LOL

In the '05-"06 SU! catalog, all of the ink pads have a new package design.
They do not have the color printed on the end, just the color itself.
They are dot coded per color family (ie: one dot for Bold Brights, 4 dots for Soft Subtles) and the color is in 3 languages. (English, French and Spanish)

I just looked at the ends of my pads and all have a colour on them and if it is either craft or classic
So I guess these are older new ones lol

Am I the only SU customer that preferred the "old" style to the new style? I really don't like the new pads. They don't fit in my holder, they are messy -- I don't like them.

Nope Your NOT alone I dont like the new style either, I always have hard time opening and closing them ...I would have been happy with the old style in a larger pad size !!

Default Out with the New

I was glad to hear someone else say that they didn't like the new stamp pads. I just don't like them at all. Every tiime I open one I get ink on me, on my clothes or somewhere that I wasn't planning to ink! One of my friends says I'm just getting old and don't like change, but she finally admitted the other day that she doesn't like them either.

Evidently not, since there are others who have responded. But I just have to say that I LOVE the new pads! They make it so much easier to ink up a background stamp or a wheel (if you don't have the cartridge), they're a lot more child-proof, I love the way they lay open at just the right slant on my work space and I love the fact that they are unique to SU! No one else has anything remotely similar.

I was so excited when they introduced them at convention and gave us our very own new black stamp pad. I must have opened and closed it a hundred times in a couple of days. I think SU! did a great job with the design.

I'm not putting down anyone who doesn't like the new design. I just have a hard time understanding. What's not to like? ;-)

You took the words right out of my mouth. I finally got all of the old colors. Now I am working on the new ones.

I like the new style, but I have to agree with some of the posts. I usually have a hard time opening them, and I usually get ink on my fingers.

OH, but with 3 kids, I NEED hard to open!!!!! Before I had SU ink pads, I had some other brand, and my kids found them and the ink pads found the carpet, walls, and comforter. They cannot get my SU pads open!!!!! I LOVE them.
