I haven't counted, but I'm sure I have more than 20 -- a mix of patterns and focal points. At $5 apiece, they were an easy splurge at the craft store. Plus they are easy to store.
I have plenty... Does anyone else think about giving some away because they are only used once or twice a year? I use those basic 6 or 7 every single week!
Yes, yes. Six or seven are Keepers. The same can be said about inks, adhesives, stamps, trimmers, markers, embellishments...............or even the spices, knives, spatulas, pans, recipes, towels, pot holders, pitchers, cups in my kitchen.
It's a lifetime of sorting for what works for YOU. I wish I had all the money spent on what I THOUGHT would work but didn't.
We need a library where we can try before we buy. :-)

OH... I do so like that idea! LOL I've said it before, I wish there were lots more stampers, scrappers, crafters in NJ so I could get together with them and swap out things (or even give away things) that I don't use any more. Just knowing they would go to a "good home" would make me happy. I belong to the PIF thread but shipping things away is killing me.

I have about 30 at present, they are not on my "go to" list of creating a card, but having said that when I do use them I think "hmm must use these more often" For now, I am just picking new ones if I see them on sale...and drool over the ones I see on blogs etc.
I have not been crafting, lost my mojo etc, and now have a trapped nerve in my neck which is causing excessive pain....any how, last night I went down to my craft room to make a card for a good friend and to see if I could tolerate looking down whilst making it...and on my desk was a Michaels bag, tided tight ....hmmm what could this be? I remembered I had been to Michaels over a month ago with my SIL but could not for the life of me remember what I had picked up but based on the weight of the bag and the size it wasn't much.
I open the bag to find two packages of you guess it embossing folders that were on offer! completely forgot I had purchased them (mind has been focused on pain tolerance and physio) ... quite liked my choices! ;-)
Oh I am waay behind!! I have 11 embossing folders and 1 impression plate. I love seeing all the lovelies in the gallery made with these miraculous things and I'm inspired to buy more. I fear I've developed a "candy store mentality" LOL! But I've pretty much sworn off the older folders in favor of the newer, larger ones.
I love the newer Sizzix because of the deeper impression they give, almost makes the card stock feel like fabric!!
I didn't know we could have enough!!! LOL I keep thinking I have plenty and then some company comes out with something I just have to have. I also have issues with impulse shopping when someone posts something to their gallery that "enables me" to buy!
4,583. When you hit that number. Then you have enough. I am getting close...
Ha..that was approximately the number I had in mind too! You really can never have too many. My always go to folder is Swiss Dots. I don't think there is a card in my gallery that doesn't have swiss dots somewhere LOL. I try to use folders as much as possible.
I had to count...I counted 21...almost all bought on sale. They have ALL been used...However, there's only about 5 that I use on a regular basis...I will only buy now if one design really jumps out for me...

I voted for the 21-40 category because I currently have 23 and thought of at least two more that I still NEED (as opposed to the wants...) I don't use them all the time, but often enough to make it worthwhile having them, and I like to have season-specific and.or style-specific folders in addition to the more generic/general use folders, so that adds more to the list, for sure! Plus, I'm more likely to use an embossing folder than I am designer paper - I like texture more than pattern, I guess...
I was going to say "How many do they make?" thinking that would be the appropriate answer until I read about someone having 500. Now I'm sure I don't have near enough.
I voted 76+ because they come out with new folders all the time and I "NEED" them. My old reliable would be polka dot and my recent fav is SU! square lattice and though I haven't tried it yet I love the SU! holiday frame. SEE...the list goes on and on and etc. LOL
New ones are coming all the time...new companies making them too! I just got 12 beautiful new ones yesterday from the Romantique collection of Couture Creations. I had to add them to my personal stash....
blessings.
Love my folders
And with the waxed paper resist technique and the Tim holst accessory that lets you leave a blank area to stamp in i have found my folders have taken on new life!!
Ohh. sprtchick PLEASSE let me know how these are!! I've been looking at them for awhile but no one has mentioned having tried them so I've been nervous about buying a diffent/new brand even though there are a couple I want.
lol, this thread is great!! I have a 52 A2 size, plus the misc. 5x7 and little ones. Wow!!! I voted I had 21+ so I was way off until I actually counted them! There are still more I want out there though, the woodgrain specifically nevermind the butterflies.
There is jusst so much you can do with them that I think it's one of the best investments I feel I've made.
I invested in embossing folders almost before anything else when I started. They are so inexpensive and add so much interest not only to cards but my paper flowers, too, on occasion. The versatility and just plain "fun" factor only increases their value IMHO. I'm always finding new ones I want! SO I'm not sure there is such a thing as "enough"! Kinda like Nesties-

I just counted mine after doing the poll- 38. But I am buying more ever since I learned serendipity squares using shimmer sheets. I love love love this technique and the look of the cards. Now I just have to have more folders!!! oh my...did I say that outloud?? lol

My addiction is nowhere near the level of sprtchick's but I do have a Couture Creations folder (yes, just the one - lol!) so I'll give my answer in case she doesn't revist and see this. I've used it on cardstock and soda can metal. It gives a nice crisp impression with the same sandwich I'd use in my Big Shot for any of the Cuttlebug or Tim Holtz/Sizzix folders. It feels like the same sort of plastic as those folders too so I'm assuming that the hinge will be as durable.
Hummm, I've never counted...I like what hunterri said, only it's my Mom and I. We always try to get different folders, die cuts, stamps...anything so we can swap! It's a great arrangement!
I think they add so much to a project...whether it is a background, punched item or section you want to highlight. There are so many awesome patterns, sentiments, frames, etc. I just purchased the Tim Holtz Diffuser set...to get more bang for the buck. Considering all of the supplies one can purchase for card making and stamping...this is a minimal investment. Most are only about $5-7 each.

I am getting more selective than at first. I probably have 30-40ish. Sometimes I need to just look thru them because I do have some I've never used before. But they are inexpensive (especially with a coupon). I do love to look for new ones! '
I have 26 SU! ones (I counted the ones that come together - like the ones for edges or the frames individually instead of how you purchase them.) I just counted and I have 10 retired SU! or Cuttlebug ones - basically ones gathering dust because I only use current SU! product for the last 2 years or so! I'm looking forward to getting rid of those 10 this fall as I have a sale for all my retired SU! goodies (4+ years of stuff) and contraband stuff. I just think it is a waste hanging around my house when someone else could be using and loving it!!!
I put up to 50 as my answer, but I really use most of the ones I have frequently. 19/20 times I make a card, I use an embossing folder. They are probably my favorite thing to use on cards. As soon as SU! releases a new catalog, they are the first thing to go on my wish list and the first thing to show up on my order!!! At $7.95/folder, I have no problem paying full price and LOVE knowing that I'll get my money's worth out of them! (I guess one could argue that I get my 20% discount, and last month I had enough sales to get 34% discount so I got all 3 of the new folders at that discount. Thank goodness for WOODGRAIN!!! YAY!!! )
Anyway, I'm a folder junkie! If I end up with 76+ I certainly wouldn't be surprised! My fav right now (besides that fab Woodgrain with our Early Espresso Core'dinations card stock) is the Chevron folder for sure! I go to pull out other ones and I always end up using the Chevron right now. I love to hear what other people's favs are so keep that coming...what a fun thread!!!
Hi I have about 20 sometimes it seems not enough, but I have some friends and we exchange them so we can make some of each and then we get ours back, so now I have about 20 of each friends and that give me extras. good Idea?
marlene
All of the brands I own and carry in my webstore seem to give very crsip impressions. I cannot honestly say one brand is better than another. I just cant believe how many there are.
Blessings
We should have a poll on which ones are our favorites.....My top choice would be the herringbone one from SU, The swiss dot and the brick and wood grain from Tim Holtz...... I also love to you a checkered one for men's cards....... I have a lot of floral ones that I seldom use.
My initial thought was you can never have too many . . . but then I felt a little greedy for having thought that so I voted for 50! The embossing folders are so versatile and as long as they inspire your creativity I say go for it! I currently own around 30 and it's always one of the first things I consider when creating a card or scrapbook page because it adds another dimension to help make your project look professional!
I have never counted how many I have, but every container for them is over flowing.(I have 4) I do have a tendency to use my swiss dot folder more than any and also the textile one. Marianne's new cut and emboss are awesome but so expensive! I see a card on Splitcoast that uses one I think I have to have and I go on a mission to get it and then sometimes don't ever use it. I could be out of control....when it comes to ALL things paper crafting!:-) Based on past performance I think I will probably continue to buy them!

four more than I have now, then that will be enough..... well it will be until SU comes out with another new one!! lol
I just counted mine and I have 134! Knew I had a lot, but didn't know it was that many. lol There are a few more on my list. I'm thinkin' now I don't really need them.
