How many cards do you make?

Do you count the cards you make? Keep track by pictures or samples?
I ask because so much time is used to keep organized and I am curious.

I actually have to schedule time out from organizing to design. I make between 350-400+Designs a year. I do not count multiples of same design. My cards vary from clean and simple to ones that take several days to complete for special occasions. I count gift bags, boxes, tags as a design along with the cards.
I photo them on an iPad, then transfer them to a computer for storage yearly.
After sending to friends and family, my designs are donated to various charities for fund raising.

I like to design, use my supplies and tools, but lack enough people to share them with.
i hope you will share your production info with me.

That is what what I plan to do. I donate cards for fund raisers and also am looking into sending cards to over seas orphan missions. I use bable fish to help write sentiments in the language of the country the mission is located in.
Do you keep a record of your donations for tax purposes?

UnderstandBlue 04-22-2015 12:25 PM

I make hundreds as well. I keep track of them here in my gallery and once they're uploaded, I put them in the card rack I use to mail cards from - it really helps me send them out randomly if I can see them.

Hey - I was born in Buffalo :) Went to college in Rochester :)

What a thoughtful and wonderful idea.

I do not take a tax deduction in that it takes too much record keeping. I am retired and had my own business and choose not to do that anymore.

If you are making quanities to send, I recommend you keep a basic stash of supplies that you have receipts for for your records. You can "trade" supplies from your personal stash.

Lydia, looks like Buffalo and Rochester lost a talent to Austin.

UnderstandBlue 04-22-2015 12:30 PM

aww you are too sweet.

I sure miss the fall and spring there. The winter - not so much :)

Oh - and the FOOD. No good Italian food here whatsoever.

Thanks for the responses. I really enjoy being able to ask questions and getting answers from those who are in the know. I am also retired and would like to have some tax write off. I do not sell my cards, but prefer to donate them to special causes. Blessings

I don't count the cards and other projects I make. If the project is something I have not directly CASEd, then I upload it to the gallery here usually, but not always. Sometimes I just don't feel like photographing and entering details! I don't have a blog, so this is the only place I share.

I am a pretty organized crafter, thanks to DH! He said I could have half the family room for my hobby IF I made it look nice and neat. Well, I did, and so now messes are never an issue. I also am not a shopper, so I don't have a ton of stuff, relatively speaking.

I make more cards than I can send out, so I give them as gifts, sell some at an antique store, and leave some in a box at my church for others to freely take. I also have a group of women come over once a month to make cards that I design for them. All this keeps my supplies nicely in check and gives me a reason to buy new things!

I do take a tax deduction each year for what I've donated, but I estimate it. I have no receipts and as a former CPA I should know better but it is so small that I don't care.

UnderstandBlue, I'm from Buffalo ( & my husband is from Rochester). Any time you want "Real" Buffalo Wings, Beef on Weck. White Hots from Wegmans or Logan Berry I will be glad to send them to you.

estamps 04-22-2015 06:47 PM

Takinmytyme, do you still live in Buffalo? Would love to know of any stamp happenings besides Buffalo Stamps &Stuff. Am very aware of them. I do go to a stampin Up technique group once a monthalso.

How many cards do I make?

Not nearly enough to justify the amount of money I've spent on supplies!

I never did before. But I do now. I send out 30 cards a month to the my sister. who then uses them for the church members Birthdays, Get Wells, so on and on.

Plus I also make for swaps and family members birthdays. So I'm looking at about 50 cards a month.

ailhelen 04-23-2015 12:48 AM

I have absolutely no idea how many I make. I take photos of all my cards just so I can remind myself what I have done and of a card I liked so I can do it again. I sure dont keep track of how much I spend, if I did I think It would just depress me so what ai dont know doesnt bother me.
I hardly ever remember to send cards out but I do love giving card packs as gifts. Christmas, Birthday, just because any excuse. Once the box I have them in gets too full I make up bundles and put aside to gift.

Have also found a great person who goes to my hairdresser and likes my cards, notepads, giftcard holders and will take a box full to her work and sell them all in record time. I only do this about 4 times a year, enough to cover my and my daughters hair cuts, colours and streaks.

Wow, you are all so productive!! I only make one card about every 1.5 days. Mostly I send them to my nieces and nephews. Occasionally I'll give a bunch to a friend's daughter to use for the kids in her daycare room (as their 2nd birthday nears, they transfer out to another room - she gives them a birthday card as they leave). Once in a while I'll give a few to Operation Write Home. I photograph and upload the cards, but I don't keep track of anything else.

buggainok 04-23-2015 11:25 AM

I don't keep track of how many cards I make, but I do scan and save them for future reference, and also upload some of them here in my gallery.

I have a "card list" of friends and family that I send cards to on a regular basis, so I keep busy making cards.

I send about 30 cards to folks on my list for most of the major holidays. Christmas, Valentines, Easter, Mothers Day and Fathers Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

I also send many Birthday cards. We have a large extended family, with 5 grown children and spouses, and 19 grandkids and 4 greats. Someone is having a birthday every month, it seems. Sometimes many "someones." June is a big month around here, with 7 birthdays!

In addition to birthdays and occasions, I try to send "just because" cards, because I think unexpected cards are the most fun to receive!:)

Ooh, white hots! One of the things my BIL sends to us regularly to get our dose of Rochester! My DH is from Rochester!

Have to include Abbot's frozen custard too. We now have one about 50 miles from us...and they sell Zweigle's as well!

But no Wegmans :(

Well, since you asked, last count about two weeks ago was 1,110. Yeah, I love to make them, tried selling in stores, just didn't seem to work. I have an awesome stash, but still like to make them when I need them and if I don't like what turns out, I just pull out of my stash. I can create better when I don't feel pressure.
