Default How long do reinkers last?

I have some SU reinkers that are five years old. How do I know if they are still okay to use? I've only opened a few of them. Most are unopened.

I also have some Fluid Chalk Ink reinkers, probably three years old. How do I know if they are okay to use. I've never opened them.

Thanks

I have refills older than 5 years. If in doubt before using them on your ink pads, dispense a few drops onto waxed paper or some other toss-friendly surface to check for unusual odor. ;)

The fluid chalk reinkers will separate, so be sure to shake them extra long. I agree with Bev - test them on something first before heading right to the inkpad. I'm not sure if they have a shelf life - you might contact the company to see if they have any insight for you.

I have had some of my dye reinkers (Ranger brand) for at least 12 years, and they're fine... they've outlasted some of my inkpads! Never wasted though, since I can use them for watercoloring and background techniques.

some of my SU! ones are the bigger bottles...how old are they? I'm guessing 15 years. I still have some of the GOOD original black that I use.

All of this is good to know.

I guess I'll open them up and check.

I never thought of reinkers going 'bad'. Good question!

I wanna say someone who does an awful lotta stampin (Frugal Crafter? Sandy Alnock? somebody like that ...) had something to say about reds and the minerals that make them as being less stable, but I can't wrap a memory around it clear enough to say anything for sure. Probably because I have a TON of reinkers and I really don't want to know. It'll make me really sad if I can't use them.

For the record, I've re-inked (all SU!) with blues and greens that are at least 10 years old with no problem. The only red I've needed to re-ink is Cherry Cobbler (is that not the most scrumptious red?!) and had no problem.
