Default How do YOU say.....

We are a Coast Guard family from Texas. We have lived in all the regions of the Umited States. I always find the unique pronunciations of words to be do amazing! LOL

We recently moved to the West Coast from the East Coast and for the first time ever, I am hearing scrap/stamp company names pronounced differently that I have heard them before.

The two that I can remeber right off the bat are Bazzill and Cricut. So how do YOU say these two???

Bazzill ( buh-zil) or (Bazz -il)

Cricut ( cricket) or ( CRY-cut)

I say Bazzil with along a and Cricut with along i. but that's just me and I could be wrong. I am in the hot, and humid midwest.

I say cricut like cricket because that's what their logo is, and that's how the QVC people say it.

I say Bazzil like bazzle.

I have seen the razzle, dazzle, bazzill...so I changed my pronunciation to that.
But I have been wondering how to pronounce Cricut so I will subscribe to this thread and hopefully learn!

Just today I heard that it is supposed to be Cricket - but I had never heard that before.

Bazzil - like razzle.

What a great way to describe it - razzle dazzle Bazzill. That's how I've always said it (in my head).
That's just how it looked to me.

However, in my head, I was saying Cry- cut.
Then I happened to see it on QVC. At first, I thought the hostess was making an awful mistake over and over. I realized that I had to be the one who was wrong. Now I say it like the insect.

I agree that Coluzzle rhymes with "a puzzle".

So, for the original poster, I am wondering how you were pronouncing it in Texas.

I pronounced it CRY-cut at a stamp group and a lady corrected me with "Cir-cut." I didn't say anything but I was thinking "I may not be right, but YOU are WAY WRONG!" LOL

I say Bazzil like frazzle, and Cricut like cry-cut (because I want to cut with the cricut so bad it makes me cry!). Somebody posted a thread ages ago asking about the new 'cricket' machine and I had no clue what the h they were talking about. I guess the logo looks about as much like a cricket as the brand name looks like cricket, so I will deal.

Checked back to see if there was an answer and it looks as though I was wrong on both words. But that is not surprising because I don't know what Bazzill papers are nor do I know what the cricut is for?

Yes, Cricut is pronounced like the noisy little bug (but my Cricut isn't noisy at all, and I don't run away from it like I do those aweful black critters). I'm not sure about the paper though...I just point to it and say, "I'll take some of THAT".

I guess I was pronouncing both wrong.
I was saying:
Bu-zeel (short u)
Cry-cut

Bazzle, cricket as in the bug.

I *know* coluzzle rhymes with puzzle but say it wrong in my head (culoozle) and can't seem to adjust.

I wish bazzil paper was white cored (maybe you can get it with a white core but I don't have a source) because I love it soooo much. The texture is awesome and it makes everything look a little more special. I have lots of it!

cricut just like the noisy critters outside your window!

When I first saw Cricut, I pronounced it "Cir-Kut", like a circuit in electrical wiring terms). But that's 'cause I'm dyslexic and inverted the "r" with the "i" in my mind. When I realized what I did, I began to think it might be pronounced "Cry-kut".

It wasn't until I saw the cricket for their logo that it "clicked" with me and I started pronouncing it like the little insect, a "cricket".

Can you say BLONDE (and dyslexic??) LOL!! What a combination! LOL!
