How do you do this? I have to learn.

O.k. here goes. how do you send a link to someone using only 1 or 2 words.rather than typing in the full address.

For example on the home page when someone tells us how to make a pocket card or pearly window.and it says click here for step by step instructions and there is only 1 word that brings you to the link.
Can someone explaine to me how you do this.so I am not typing in the full address each time.I want to learn how to do this.

Okay, I'll explain the best I can, but what you do is copy the address just like you normally would. Then say you wanted the address to say My Gallery all you would do is type the word My gallery, and highlight it(not copy, just highlight) and then you should see if you look above where you are typing where you can change the font, and colors and all of that, there is a globe with like an 8 laying on its side. click that, and then paste the address there, and it will then be a hyperlink. HTH:)

When you reply to a message, click the "Go advanced" button at the bottom of the page. A new screen will come up.

Underneath the area where you can type a title for your message you will see all sorts of formatting buttons. Click on the icon underneath the white smilie face that looks like a globe with two links from a chain. When you hover your cursor over it, it should say, "insert link". Click on this button.

A new window will pop up and you will be prompted to enter the URL. Paste it into the new pop up box and click "ok". The URL along with some html coding will be pasted into your message.

Part of the code will be highlighted in blue. If you do not click anything, and just start typing, your typing will replace what was highlighted in blue. This is what will become the "click here" part of your link (like below).

I hope this makes sense.

I'll try to do a visual example with a link to my gallery below:

After you've pasted your URL into the pop up box, something like this will be pasted into your message:

[ URL="//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=67004"]//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=67004[/ URL]

The part I've colored in blue will be wat appears highlighted blue. This is the part you want to delete and replace with "click here". When you do that, this is what it will look like:

To make sure you've done it correctly, you can click on "preview post" at the bottom of the page before you commit yourself to posting an error.

I don't know if I explained this very clearly. I hope this helps!

I have been wondering the same. But I have learned that it is not necessary to retype the address. When you have the link "up" on the screen, highlight the address, and copy it. Then with the cursor in your reply (or wherever you want the link), paste. Eureka! no need to retype all those pesky letters and dots! I am sure someone else will come up with how to do the words instead.

See - someone put up the reply while I was getting coffee and replying at the same time! lol

ok then, my head just exploded...

This is the format:
this (the last "url" needs to have a "/" iso that it's "/url" but I had to take it off so that it'll type this out instead of making it into a link)

the above is IF you type it out.
To use the link icon that is provided when you reply or post a message on the SCS forum, you need to

1. type what you want to link, for example the word "this" is what you want to link.
2. highlight the word "this"
3. look up in your editing tools and you'll see the B I U, line indenting, bullets, and this little bluish greenish globe icon with a chain link under it.
4. click that
5. type in or paste the html link
6. click ok and you'll see the format above

Below is a pic of the icon you have to click. Keep in mind this is a screen shot of another application and not vBulletin that SCS is using. I don't have photoshop in this computer and just did a quick search. BUT, it's the same idea.
