I have a 14 yr. old ds, and at this point he pretty much wants a gift card to give to a friend and no card. I would keep it simple - no ribbon, buttons or bows. Search in the gallery under "masculine birthday" or "CAS birthday" (clean and simple), I'm sure you could find some ideas in there.

I think stars are always a good idea - or nature or sports as mentioned above. Stripes in earth colors are always masculine enough. Humorous is usually good, too.
This has got to be one of the toughest categories, if you ask me! Hopefully you know something about him. When I haven't, but still needed a teenage boy card, I did a nature card ~ waterfall, trees.... Trains, boats, etc. might work, too!
I did this one for my nephew last year (12!) after I got over the idea of no more cutesy cards :( for him:
"Under the stars" has great manly potential. So does "crab & co" and "Loads of Love". Way to many to mention here, but these are three that popped into my head when I read the post.
Let's see your final creation!!

My soon-to-be-13 yo nephew may be my biggest card fan. He loves all the cards I make and genuinely likes all the cards I've given him. I just bought Just Basketball set to make his 13th bd card. I tend to stick with sports themes for him. Here are few I've made for the boys . . .

I found some great papers from Bo Bunny which were perfect for my 14-year-old son. The range is "Xtreme", and has various grungy papers with "text speak", barbed wire, rusty metal-style etc, also some cardstock stickers featuring phrases like "Made 4 Extremes", "Set no Limits" etc: my son is into BMXing and dirt biking, so they were perfect. But definitely no cutesy stuff for these guys! (They grow up so fast..!)
Wow, there are some great teen cards out there! Figure out what the boy is into and go with that. For my son this year (he turned 15 last week), I made him a football card - that's his life right now!!
Could someone please just post the link of the exact page Julie's Ipod card is on? I'd really like to see it. I have dial-up and just can't 'scroll around' her blog, when every page takes 10 minutes to come up! Help, please?
I know it's kinda late, but I made this one for my son using one of those printable cards from Bluemountain.com. You could always find some cool clip art on the web, print it out along with a sentiment and mount it on some DP. HTH!
Oh I just did a b-card the other day for a 13 yr old boy.............
I used Orange and Brilliant blue for colors of card stock.......
then stamped a image of Under the Stars (the Bear) ..and punched some stars out too.......
wish I could show you a pic......(no camera)
but it turned out cute.
My son and his buddies are all turning 16. I've done 2 things that I've actually gotten compliments from the boys on. I have done a gift card holder with a gas card in it then done a car or rock motif on the outside. The other one that the guys really liked was I just used a Hawaiian or masculine DSP on the outside then fastened a money origami shirt to the DSP with temporary adhesive. The guys hang out here all the time so they may just be indulging me but I'm okay with that!
