I have the pastels and blender pens, and I'm thinking about buying the SU markers. Then there are the watercolor pencils. Is there a reason to consider them? Would it be redundant? Thanks.
I have all 3 - the pastels, markers, and watercolor pencils (yes I'm addicted). I find that I use the pencils the most - sometimes with the blender pens and sometimes without. It is just a different look - not quite as soft as the chalks and not as bright as the markers.
Just a suggestion - I'd buy the pencils before the markers. Do you know how to use your ink pad and blender pen to get a "marker" look
I would get the markers. I love the pastels and the markers; it's not that I don't like the watercolor pencils, but they don't exactly match the SU colors and there are only 24. I wish they would come out with a set of 48 that match the colors they have. Until they do, I would stick with the markers. You can always water color using your ink pads and markers with aquapainters.

Agreeing about the pencils....
I have them and they do not really match the 48 colors - I do better using my pads and a water color brush or my blending pens. You can shade better using the pencils first and then blending - but personally - I wish I had not bought them but had bought other things instead
I also have all 3 =)
I am in my demos marker club, so I got all 4 color families over the course of 4months-GREAT way to do this!
I have the pastels too, I have only used it with the versamark doing the poppin' pastels technique and I LOVE the look!
I love the watercolor pencils too, I like to use it with my aquapainter...I color in on one side of the image and use my aqua painter to drag it out and color in the rest, it looks very pretty =)
i also use the markers to color on a stamp to omit certain parts of the stamp, or if I just dont have that color! I only have 2 of the large pads (black and mellow moss) and 2 color families of the stampin spots, so the markers come in handy for that....plus I LOVE the bold look I get when I color in a stamped image...if thats the look I am going for on that card, you can get that with the pencils! =)
Good luck!
not redundant at all, as other said they will give you different looks.
if i could only have one, i'd pick the markers. they are the most versatile to me, thus the most useful. second would be the pastels--i just love the chalk look! i do like the watercolor pencils though! and i use them often, just not as often as the other two. but several people i know prefer the pencils to chalks (i'm the only one with all the markers) because they prefer the vibrant color they can blend (plus they find chalks too messy).
I have and use all three; love them all. If I had to choose just one, I would choose the markers so that when I write in my card and address the envelope, I can match the cardstock and ink.
I agree that not having the SU colors is a downside to the pencils. I can't imagine they won't get around to offering them sometime. I would like an alternative to pastels, though. I like using them with versamark but they are messy, and it's awfully hard to color in small spaces. The little applicators they include with the set last about 5 minutes. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.
just gotta add my $0.02. I have all 3 plus (I'm sooo adicted to all things that color!) and of all the things I have to color with I use markers, and watercoloring with aquapainters and pooled ink in an ink pad lid the most. (though I love many other ways to color also. these 2 just happen to be my most used.) so I would really recomend the markses first. I use them for tons of stuff! in fact I got the markers b-4 I really started collecting ink pads because they're so versitile. and the fact that they do come in all 48 colors is a real benefit. HTH

I also have all three (not to mention just about everything else in the catalot). I had wanted the whole set of markers for ages, and finally gave it to myself last Christmas. When I first got them, my husband thought I was nuts, even though he is very supportive and loves my work.
Well, now when I make a card that he is going to send to someone, the first thing he asks for is a matching marker so he can write in the card and address the envelope. He does calligraphy, so it looks great, too.
I have thought several times that I would use some markers if I had them. I have one red one, and a few Marvys, and I do the pool thing on the ink pad case and then use the blender. I just want something softer for when that's needed. My DH will definitely think I'm nuts if I get the box. Maybe since SU doesn't have a set with SU colors I could use an AC Moore 40% coupon and get some there. Or maybe I'll end up hating them and getting the SU ones anyway. AAGGGGH!
