Hiya fellow Manitoban!

Are you thinking of the stamp cleaner using Simple Green?

If so, look here:

Post #10: mrikitty talks about a mix ratio...several people in that thread talk about adding some drops of glycerine. I haven't tried this yet (but I think my friend has Simple Green).

Hope this helps!

Here's what I did once:
all ingredients combined should total 8 oz
Take a 1 c measuring cup and put in a dropper (or equivalent) of glycerine, two squirts of baby wash, a fragrance if you wish like rose water or orange blossom water (I think I used a teaspoon) and fill the cup to the top with distilled water.

Cleaned like a charm. Sometimes, you can actually get glycerine scented with rose water. But, if you have a Middle Eastern or Asian market nearby, you can get bottles of rose water and another type that's orange-y but it's actually a flower or sometimes you can get orange blossom water.

I use the recipe that mungojerry listed...and have been using it for more than 2 years. I have an aversion to all things scented, so I just use the baby wash (no extra fragrance).

I find it cleans well, is not too sudsy (like some of the cleaners I have bought at JoAnn's or Michael's).

It's just a liquid soap sold for babies. Here it's made by Johnson & Johnson or Mennen. It's in a pump bottle so you just put a few pumps in. You know, you could probably use something like castile soap from a health food store or anything mild. It's such a little bit anyway.

i tried to find glycerine, and had no luck. where would you find it at the store? in what department? for those that use the simple green solution do you add it too? is it neccessary to? is there any other way to condition the stamps? i know lots of questions but since most of you are such great experts here i figure it the perfect place to ask.

I've found glycerine at craft/hobby stores by the soap making supplies. I have also seen it at Walgreen type stores by the hand lotion.

Gail, the recipe my demo gave me was

1 ml glycerin and rose water ( you can find this at the pharmacy area at Walmart)
1 squirt baby body wash (mild soap)
fill small squirt bottle with DISTILLED water ( this is to prevent mould and gross things like that)

Hope this helps ya gals!

Hey, Avonlea, where are you from? I"m from Winkler! It's so cool to find "locals" on SCS!

My pharmacy ordered it for me. I think almost any pharmacy can do that - you don't need a prescription or anything.

This is the recipe I use, but I don't like rose scent. I use plain glycerin and for scent I use Gerber Brand Giggles andGrins Lavender Baby Wash. I love the slight lavender smell.

I found my glycerine in the Cake Decorating aisles of several different stores. It's Wilton brand.

You can get glycerine in the first aide section of a pharmacy and the simple green can be bought at Home Hardware.
