Default Holiday Mini a flop?

Hi Everyone,

My first time as a Hostess for a swap (Summer Mini) went off great. I got some great advice from all of you and wound up with 20 people. I was able to swap out 5 days after the closing date. Everyone was happy. The cards were stunning. I revised my Holiday swap and Wild Rose swap to card fronts thinking it would save time (busy time with school, PTA etc) I even lowered the amount to 4 + 1 and signed up myself. Not a bite or nibble.

Is the Holiday Mini selling well? ( I am not a Demo....yet)

Any advice on how to get some swappers? Thanks Virginia

Well, I personally would not join a swap if it was only 4+1. That is a small amount of samples for the amount of postage. I have found that my bigger swaps have been more successful. I like to join 15 or 20+ swaps. That way I get a bunch back at once and it is like Christmas.

I've not gotten any "bites" on this mini yet either. The last one did really well with the posies set and bud basics for me, but not so for this one.

As a SU customer...not a demo...I usually love the minis, especially this year. I love most of the stamps in this holiday one, so I'm not sure why you aren't getting any swappers.

And I'm the opposite - I would be more inclined to join a smaller swap.
On another note, I don't sell much from the minis, so for me, I prefer sets from the catty.

Oh, as for swaps, I so would never do 20+. I think it's torture to do more than 10 (and even that takes effort), so I would so sign up for a smaller swap.

Every year there are some great swaps that are 75+ and I get the BEST swaps back ever. I also am done swapping for awhile because I have such great swaps. I wouldn't waste my money on the small swaps. Even with my group we at least have 20 swappers every time.

I think it amazing how different we all are as stampers. Even when I stamp cards for my personal use I make them in sets of 12 with matching envelopes. That way I have them on hand to send to people or just to give away as gifts.

Thanks for your input. I appreicate all the advice. I did have the swap at 5 + 1 full cards, then dropped it to 4 +1 card fronts. It looks like I will have to cancel this one. I will give until Friday.

What do you think about the swap on Wild Rose? I made so many cards with different techinques (embossing, cracked glass etc) this is a great set.

I am not a demo - only a customer. I did not care much for this year's holiday mini...I did purchase paper and few other things. I was a little disappointed. I say that now...but usually after my demo has a party showcasing the products, I end up buying everything! I am a customer that she truly loves - hehehe (while my husband always says "how much stuff do you need?"). I have never participated in a swap and am not sure what that is...I imagine there is another thread somewhere explaining it? Sounds interesting.

I really like the Holiday mini, and plan to buy a couple of the sets. I've been very impressed with so many of the cards people are making with the stamps from that mini, that I started quite a wish list! I'm hosting a workshop in a couple weeks and I know my demo will choose a few things from that mini to make.

I really like perfect endings and the paper. I think the spring mini was outstanding. Summer was cute too. I loved bud basics. What do you think about the Ribbon Keeper? Just wanted to know your thoughts

Maybe it isn't the mini itself, but the timing. While I've had the holiday mini in my hot little hands for a few weeks, I haven't actually ordered anything out of it yet. In fact, my first real opportunity to order is next week at a friend's workshop, so I'm not comfortable with signing up for a swap yet. Perhaps you'll have better luck in a few weeks once more people have the stamps.

I agree. I don't even have my copy of my mini yet. I usually get mini's in the mail from my demo but haven't go this one. I have seen in in PDF but it's just not the same and certainly not as enticing. I would think people need to have it for a couple of weeks before placing an order, then another couple of weeks to get their order and make some cards. Perhaps give it another month?

I think that demos would be interested in a larger swap (more bang for your buck) and non-demos would be interested in full cards (I wasn't at all interested in card fronts before I became a demo), so by doing a small card front only swap you might be really limiting your potential participants.

Well, it's only the 7th, so if a customer ordered from the mini on the 1st then they are just now starting to get their stamps. I'd give it a bit of time yet. Personally, I don't do card fronts. I don't like them, I'd rather make and have the whole card.

As for the Wild Roses, it's an expensive set. I think people need to have a reason to buy a set at that price point. The $20 sets are more of an impulse buy, but once the price goes higher, people need to really think about buying it. So therefore, not as many people will own that set. Just my observation

I LOVE the Holiday mini. I had my first workshop this month and sold lots of stuff from it. Probably because did some demos from it, had lots of show and tell, and was super excited about it! I previewed some of the product at my August stamp club and one of the ladies placed her own book party on the 1st. I see lots of great sales from this mini!!!

I really like this Holiday Mini-Catalogue! And much more than the Summer one. Remember for those of us who are Customers only (not Demos), we only got the Catlg on Sept 1st, 7 days ago. LM

Default PS...

PS...Also I would only do Full-Card Swaps as well, not card-fronts. LM

I am a customer, not a demo. I adore the new holiday mini. I will be buying a lot from it.

I have now changed my mind about the holiday mini...and, consequently, purchased a ton of stuff! I knew that would happen as soon as my demo showed me projects.

as a customer, I don't like this mini and plan on purchasing nothing from it. I do usually find several stamp sets I like (at least 1 must have) in the minis and lately I've like the idea that SU! is making seasonal paper selections in the minis - this one just didn't "speak" to me LOL..But I just placed a $80 order w/my demo for paper for a SB album so she isn't hurting for my business even tho I didn't like the mini I made up for it LOL Andrea

Swaps are an interesting thing...

Personally I try to only do FULL card swaps - even though I am a demo that way after I show my few customers I can either use them myself or donate them to someplace that can use the full cards

and far as how many - I am one of those people who have limited supplies on hand so the less the better...when I host swaps I participate myself so I don't do a +1 at all... and I usually have it set at 8 Full cards -
