Default Holiday Cards Magazine by Paper Crafts

Does anyone else have the Holiday Cards magazine? I tried to make the star ornament on page 72 and something is wrong with the directions, I couldnt figure it out so I had my DH read the directions and look at what I did and he couldnt figure it out either. Have any of you tried it?

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going shopping later this morning and that's on my list to get, so I'll check it out. Sorry I wasn't any help.

I got it yesterday. I read the diections. Are you glueing the middle together so they keep the shape? It looks like you would add adhesive in the shape of a star/snowflake (make an X and then add the lines to finish it off). Does that work?

Well I read the directions and looked at the pictures but my shape is no where near the shape they had. So I have no idea where I went wrong. Have you tried making one yet?

I just got this magazine today so I tried this project for you and it worked for me. Did you staple it in the center of the paper? Depending on how much of an angel you cut the corners at will depend on the "shape" of the star. Also, it seems like the stars in the photo might be larger than 6 inches so you could make it bigger.

What kind of a shape are you getting? That might help me figure out what you are doing wrong.

Ok, I meant to say "depending on how much of an angle you cut it at" not how much of an angel! LOL!

Sorry!

I did staple it in the center and my DH actually cut it at more of an angle. But when you go to make it look like a star it is upside down, where she has peaks I have valleys. Maybe I did do it backwards. Here is a pic.

I think that what you need to do is after you staple it, cut one end at a diagonal--you will cut the diagonals so that when you set it down on a table, the shortest part of the diagonal is toward the center (see example). Fold it in half and then use the one end that you cut as a template on where to cut the diagonal on the other end. If you cut the diagonals in the wrong direction, you will get valleys instead of peaks.

Hope that helps. I attached a picture of what it should look like when it is setting on the table. All you need to do now is to attach the ends together!

OK I see what I did wrong. I cut on the folded side instead of the open side!!
