Default Hoarder's Anonymous

The first step (they say) is admitting you have a problem. Do you have a problem? Do you buy stuff to HAVE and don't use?

I buy neat gee wow stuff for stamping, scrap booking, etc. cause they are so cool to HAVE! But, if I use it...I won't HAVE it anymore!!! Gonna do some letting go this year - or buy two of everything!!! (and I already do that too!)

Happy New Year everyone!

I am a hoarder of scrapbooking papers ~ the really neat 12 x 12 papers, that are really pretty! And just like you said if I use them, I won't have them anymore. I take them out and look at them, and think I should really use this, but uh oh, then I won't have it anymore. I am going to try to work on this. Oh, I kinda hoard stickers, too. Or maybe I am not a hoarder, perhaps I just need to do more scrapbooking w/these papers and stickers.

Hmmmm, something to think about.

Hi, I'm Judy and I'm a STAMPING HOARDER !! lol

My downfall is notebooks, notepads, containers of any shape or size....I have so many buckets, tins, boxes I could be rich if I sold it all. That's why in another post earlier this week I asked about stamping projects and selling....I'm determined to "finally" use these items and stamp adorable projects and make some money!! I have wooden items as well, my goal was to Modge podge background paper on them and then a little stamped image....I have galvanized (sp?) buckets, tons of formula cans that I had my friends save me, and tons and tons of notepads and notebooks. Oh, almost forgot - - embellishment are a weakness for me too - -ribbon, brads and I will the contest in the BUTTON DEPARTMENT!!! ROFLOL

Is there a 12 step program for this?

I suffer from the same hording issues. For me it's not just stamping related. I have 1000's of yards of quilting fabric too.

I will have to join you all and admitt I am a hoarder too!
I do the same thing with pattern paper keep it because i like it but not use it. I have contaniers of buttons, I will never use all of them.
I do it with embellishments and fibers too.
My husband calls my scraproom/stamp space my collection of junk lol.

But he is now giving me a larger room to collect junk in lol.

I have the very same problem. I am not only a horder, but I buy things because I have a "plan" in mind for what I buy but then never get the project done. Every time I carry more stuff home, my husband says to me "Don't you have enough of that stuff already". I will join the 12 step program if you come up with one. .

Thanks to my hoarding ways they have gone away happy and it makes me happy to be able to help them out. It is a win, win situation as I see it.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in this compulsion!! I often buy special stuff (embellishments, expensive unique papers, ect); but won't use them (except on cards for my Mom only) because I won't have them anymore. My Mom keeps my cards so I guess I feel like I can visit them (ha, ha!!)!!! I even have this odd behavior when I KNOW I can buy the stuff again!!!

I do this with patterned paper, embellishments, RIBBON, punches, paints (every color of radiant pearls, every color of twinkling h2o...you get the drift)....and I do the same with clothes/jewelry/shoes! UGH!! Finally was able to give up some of the clothes...not because they were outgrown, out of style or worn, but because I read an article that a family (specifically the mom), needed basic things...and had none. And here, I bet, I have enough for the entire neighborhood and their entire extended families!

I was buying entire outfits together - including the purse, accesories, shoes, and coat, underware, etc. My husband converted his old office into a BIG closet for me (he doesn't even have closet space except for a couple suits and jackets)-- when that overflowed into the kids' closets and the front hall closets, he asked how could I ever wear even half of what was there!@?

Part of the enjoyment is putting the colors together and making it a 'big picture'! It's seeing that something (the outfit) looks REALLY good together! Same thing applies with cards and scrapbooking! Putting it all together!! Why do I always love doing that?

Yep, I think a 12 step program is in order....

Its always so nice to hear that I am not alone in this crazed obsession of buying more and more craft supplies. Now that I am overseas and have to buy online my dh is gonna get a hernia from having to carry all my boxes. Some of my friends say I have more supplies then the craft stores. But now I'm off to put my SAB order in and RMH is having a New Years Day sale!

I'm feeling so good knowing there are so many hoarding sisters out there! Thanks Rita - that is true - shouldn't be more than 12 steps from our STUFF! mightymouse - you're a good person. And it's true...I can do almost any kind of craft project cause I have LOTS of stuff! I have been good and limited my recent purchases to stamp/scrap items only. I have to NOT visit the other parts of the craft stores. I could really get into punches! Not Sizzix - too much work! Love the punches...just don't have. BUT I have some neat scrap book stuff to use, if I will use. I do share - some, a little, maybe.

AND if I got into the Sizzix - my disease would require that I ACQUIRE EVERY die for the Sizzix there is! Hence the other reason I won't go near one for purchases. Nice to use my friends' though!

When I see something purty and shiney I have to have it. I know I have way to much stuff that I will never use, but I have to say the worst for me is patterned paper. I just can't bear to use it because it will be gone. Another problem for me is yarn. I love fancy yarns and have a big stockpile for making my cards. Love to add them. No problem using these as there is lots on the ball.

I blame all of this on my mom. She had a craft store for years and with the 'discount' she gave me, I could always collect something.

Now if I could only find my carton of all 3000 colors of DMC thread.....

Okay, I admit it! I'm a hoarder too! I think I got it from my mom. She says all the little things she saves are her "treasures."

I'm thinking I really need to sort through things and try really hard to use up some of my hoard this year and maybe even (gasp!) give some of it away.

I'm just on the phone to mom and reading her this thread. She is laughing. Right now she is trying to decide whether to do a puzzle, embroider, or knit. She has way too much stuff (left over from the craft store) and every once in a while I sit her down and tell her to clean her stuff out, that it would be 'better' for her. She has 3 rooms full!

Can talk the talk, just can't walk the walk.

SEE!!! That's my reasoning too. I have tons and I mean tons of buttons and brads and eyelets, but the buttons I have are my babies and I keep buying them, but I'm afraid to use them, because "then I won't have them anymore" ROFLOL - - OMG, until I read your statement I didn't realize that was me!!

Is there a program for BUTTON HOARDER'S? LOL

I'm Sunnie and I am definately a hoarder. Tons of stamping and scrapping stuff and always want more. I have forced myself to stay away from the crafting, stamping and scrapbook stores to cut down on buying more stuff. It has been very difficult.

...Uh, my name is Kaylyn. I am a *fervent* hoarder. I'm so bad: I hide stuff from DH. Only to forget that I ever bought it, much less have hidden it. I just found all the papers that I bought to scrap my Las Vegas photos. That was 2.5 years ago.

jeanstamping2 and I have to do some "stampers therapy" to get over our conditions!!! ~ Kaylyn

I really didn't realize how many of "US" there are out there. I thought I was in a small minority. I'm seeing it is a BIG minority. Okay...you have to post back here when you use/give something up so that YOU can receive encouragement from the rest of us to continue on.

Having said all that - I just bought 24 mini scrap book thingies at Wally World - the Christmas themed ones were 23 cents a piece. They are only Christmas themed because of the little sheet of stickers and mini die cuts that come with it! I'll give those away and I'm putting it in print - USE SOME OF THEM FOR A WORKSHOP!!!! I won't just hoard the little devils. I am sending some of them to another SCSer - but that still leaves me with 15 - 20 of them. I will let go - I promise!

I'm becoming a hoarder -- hoarding is getting soooooo excited about the new stuff in the Target and Michael's dollar spots!!
I'm probably not as bad as some -- my mother is a MAJOR HOARDER -- so when I see it starting in me (which I am genetically disposed to doing) then I try to nip it in the bud. But, I do have a box of fantastic stuff just waiting for me to stamp on it - hiding from the DH in our bedroom!

Yeah, I can totally relate to this - my time spent as a demo was very stressful because I just couldn't handle watching people double dip in my inks, mess up my wood blocks, etc.

I always say going to the scrapbook store is my therapy. I can be totally stressed out before getting there, but once inside - my heart rate goes down, my breathing becomes regular, and I have a big huge smile on my face as I fill my basket with the most adorable and amazing papers, ribbons, albums, and embellishments. I go home a happier person and promptly store my loot in my craft room - never to be touched by human hands again. ha, ha

I am definitely a hoarding sicko.

Count me in! I tend to collect pattern papers (to make all those dozens of paper bag albums and composition journals I have planned in my head...), textured cardstock and stamps. I mean - how many flower or snowman or lighthouse stamps does one girl need? I justify collecting more by telling myself I have all these different albums and projects planned - I'm GREAT at planning, just not so much with the execution ;)!

Ok... this is seriously a good idea!!!! Post when you give some of your hoard away... whether you make it into something for someone or just give some your goodies to someone else to use.

I'm going to have to try to go through some of my stuff this week.;)

Oh man... this is something I do. I've planned so many paper bag books and have sooooo much patterned paper that I've picked up at the scrapbook store.

And of course I probably have more stamps than I'd ever need. But hey... I'm a demo... I need stamps to demo, right.;)

I wanna join the club, too! I am such a hoarder, especially of craft things. I spent several years selling handmade jewelry, and have enough beads in my garage to open a store. I am an avid crocheter and could crochet a cover for my entire house with the yarn I have on hand. And of course, my newest obsession, SU! The company is just so darned generous with the free stuff that it's multiplying rapidly!

I'm getting a tiny bit better at leaving some things behind when I'm in the stores. I have finally begun to accept the fact that I do *not* live in the middle of nowhere. I mean, I have a Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Super Target and Super Wal-Mart all within five minutes of my house, not to mention the brand new mall a mile away. I am trying to let all of them store my (future) things in their storerooms for as long as possible!

I still have my paint cans from last Christmas! And I thought I was just hoarding scrapbooking papers and stickers. Yikes! Okay, I am going to try really hard to do a project w/one of my many paint cans. Ugh!

Okay, I also just realized yesterday that I hoard candles for stamping on, too! Yikes again! Help!

Oh NO! Scrapbooking stuff is on sale this week at Hobby Lobby! What's a hoarder to do!

Default Do we wnt to have some kind of Hoarders Swap?

Or figure out a way to use our stuff?? I for one know there is not going to be a "scrapbooking/stamping supply shortage" in the universe! and you guys know it too, so what is really going on here?

Do we have to call Dr. Phil or Oprah, or worse yet go on Jerry Springer???

I for one also have a weight problem, do you think the weight and hoardding supplies has a connection?

Yeah, I know you alll are thinking this Nancyruth is getting way too deep but why cant we take a good close look at this issue, and lets face it the crafts industry LOVES us because we keep buying buying buying!!!

Oh, and in case you are wondering I am not a therapist( I sell lighting fixtures) and I had a happy childhooh!! LOL
so let me know what you are thinking my fellow stampin and scrappin-  supply-a-holics!!!
