Do you ever send one of your special, hand-stamped creations to someone and then forget WHICH of your cards you sent them? I'm always thumbing through my cardboxes racking my brain trying to remember what I last sent my sister or girlfriend or aunt so I'm not repeating but sending a card she hasn't seen yet. I REALLY don't want to repeat, at least not within a year.
I've finally had to attach a sticky note to the inside of my stamping cabinet stating what card I sent to whom on what date.
Am I alone in this? Am I just too rigid in my "card-sending practices"? Do I just have a WAY-poor memory? Do I just send WAY too many cards?

I can relate! I have customers who will remark on a card I sent them and I draw a complete blank as to what I sent them. LOL! I like your idea of jotting down what card you sent to whom.

I send maybe 3 or 4 cards a week. Sometimes someone will e-mail me rather than snail-mail (snail-mail? who uses THAT?) and thank me for the lovely HORSE card (or whatever) , and I get a clue what I sent them.
Yup! I have to write it down, now.

I keep a sample of all the cards I make in a 5x7 album and next to that card I write down the stamps used and then the name(s) to whom the card was sent. Otherwise I don't remember, esp when I receive a comment...I have to go back and see what the card was!!

I find it harder to keep track of the greeting sets. I have tried to make sure that the same birthday greeting or other greeting hasn't been sent to someone else. As far as tracking it -- never thought of it and until we move any organization is lost.
I keep a journal and just write down colors and stamp set used by the person's name. Each page has its own month so it makes it easy to track. Don't know if that helps you...
I always forget who I sent it to! I couldn't even remember which Mother's Day card I sent my mom because I designed two of them. I have short-term stamped card memory!! I like to live in the now.
You know . . . I've had this trouble, too, but I think I've solved it. I've either scanned or taken pictures of all of my cards and they were just sitting in a folder on my computer. I downloaded this folder into a version of Photoshop Elements that I was no longer using because I had updated to the newest version. Now I can tag the cards by sets . . . this helps me see what sets I use all the time and what sets I hardly EVER use. I also tag them by occassion and by year. So handy when I want to browse that cards I've made relating to babies or sympathy. I also makes notes on who I send what. This is great . . . as long as I remember to do that!
YES!! I totally get that! And, I really don't send out too many of my cards, I generally would rather hoard them
LOL! I can so relate to that! Just last night I made a duplicate of a card I made over the weekend. (It's in my gallery, the one for my great-nephew.) I realized that even though I loved the card, I really need to get it sent along with the present! I know it's scanned, but it looks so nice IRL that I just wanted to have a real copy, lol. Sick, no?
I have a covered journal devoted just to RAKs, and other cards I send out to friends and family. There are tabs separating the different sections, and some people like my Mom & Dad, and my fav SU demo pal Judy have their own tabs! Once I put a card into the envelope, I can't remember what I've sent to whom. So I find my journal to be very helpful!
I have a small Rol-o-Dex I have started with a thumbnail picture of the card, the ingredients for making it and any necessary patterns. On the back is the name, if needed, of who the card was send to and when.
I also have a picture of every card I have ever made on my computer and every card sent out and who to.
These are very important deatails!

There are some great ideas in this thread on how to track cards! TFS! I, too, tend to forget what design I've sent to whom. Only recently have I taken photos of cards or scanned them and saved them on my computer. I really like the rolodex idea and the 5 x 7 album idea and the sticky note idea. . . . .
Yes, I have done that many times. Now, if I make duplicate cards I put a sticky note on them for who I want them to go to. I also have a file in Word that I jot down quick information, like the occasion and date (ex. mom's birthday '07) and quick details about the card, which stamps used (ex. L flower/Delight in Life), colors used, and embellishments used. I can easily picture the card in my head with that information.

I don't try to keep track. You know, I have a feeling people don't remember from one birthday/Christmas/get well to the next what the card looked like that you sent them. I usually do all my birthday cards at the end of the preceding month and by the time the 20th comes around, I have no clue what the card was in that particular envelope. Even when they tell me kinda what it looked like I still don't remember.

You know, I thought that too, until my DH's trucking buddy said his wife pulls out all the Christmas cards I sent them through the years and uses them as decoration on her fireplace mantle!

This is what I do as well. That way I can make as many cards as I want and send them to whomever I want and I still have a copy of what I made and who I sent it to. Also saves on space.
