What's a stalker?

OK..I have been trying to get a real line on this for weeks. I think I have a general idea, but will someone give me the skinny on what a stalker is?
I searched the forums and you can imagine how many times the word stalker shows up and I can't seem to get thru all of the posts to get my answer.

A stalker is someone who waits and *stalks* the threads for a post like a challenge stalker is someone who waits for the challenge to be posted. In each challenge thread there is a Stalker post of some kind where people can chat while waiting for the challenge to be uploaded. Tonight I will stalk the Sketch Challenge post.

A person can also *stalk* someone's gallery, like I stalk Notimetostamp (Sharon's) gallery to check out any new cards she may post. I check it every couple of days or so.

Thanks so much! This really clears it up. I wondered about some of the threads like the challenge one you describe Michelle, but never put those threads with stalking. It sounded like a bunch of buddies instant messaging via SCS. How Fun!! Thanks again!

It started in the challenge threads a couple years ago. Basically there was a group of us that used to chat in the mornings - all the challenges used to be posted in the mornings. We all added stalker names to our signatures.

We dubbed it stalking the challenges and it stuck. Now you'll see stalking threads in the challenge threads running all day long
