HELP Printing on vellum or vellum cardstock question???
 

Ok, I have an HP deskjet 3650 which has options of printing on various types of photo paper or transparencies or glossy paper, etc. I also have a cartridge that you can put in to print photos which is apparently more archival.

I thought I would use the photo ink cartridge to print on the vellum or vellum cardstock for my niece's wedding invites --

QUESTION: Under the printing options under "paper quality - paper type" there is about 20 different types of papers to choose from. What do I use -- there isn't a vellum option and I really don't want to waste 20 sheets of vellum tying to figure out which one to use --

What "paper type" have you used if you printed on vellum -- glossy photo? transparency? ??

I usually just leave mine as regular paper, and set the print quality to draft. This way, less ink is put on the vellum, so it dries faster.

Of course, my printer liked to chew on the vellum every now and then, so I had to print just one sheet at a time, and make sure only one sheet of vellum was in the printer at a time, otherwise, like I said, it chewed up the vellum.

I've used the cardstock vellum. It's a little heavier than the regular vellum, and I didn't change anything when I ran wedding invites thru the printer.

I have an Epson printer and I don't do anything different. You just need to remember that the ink will take a little while to dry. I print 1 sheet at a time too.

I haven't tried printing on SU vellum, but not all vellum is created equally- some will blur a little no matter what setting the printer is on- I've used "the Write stock" Translucent vellum (alabaster clear or colored) from JoAnn's or Michael's and have gotten great results with that- I also use the regular paper print setting, but on normal speed, otherwise my printer will leave little gaps... HTH

For vellum and transparencies on my HP Inkjet I use

FASTDRAFT for the printing Type or Economy (less ink and less smearing)
Specialty papers - other specialty papers

Have had good luck with these settings. Good luck
