Default Help please with altered clipboards

I was scouting out the local $ store and picked up some plain clipboards. I thought they'd make nice gifts for my kids to take to the teachers for back to school.

How do you apply the paper to the boards? Any specials tricks you can give me?

After it's decorated do you cover it? Meaning contact paper or laminate? I didn't know how well just paper would stand up to use.

Any other hints or tricks you know of???

I appreciate any and all help I can get!

Thanks

Default Altered Clipboards

Jodi,
Check out the latest issue of Papercrafts magazine, October, 2005. It has an awesome project using a clipboard to make a calendar. It will show you how to adhere your paper to the clip board. It is on pages.54 &55

I Xyron or Mod Podge the paper to the board. I do not cover it with contact paper nor laminate it. But, you could if wear and tear is an issue. With adults, I don't think it would be, however, with children using it, yes, it might. Since you're intending it for the teacher's use, I personally wouldn't laminate it.

Default covering the entire clipboard?

What I don't understand is how you cover the entire clipboard . . . the "standard" clipboards seem to be difficult to cut around the clip part . . . how do they do that? Thanks, Beth

In some cases, it's possible to unscrew the metal clip, cover board, then screw the thing back on. Other folks actually paint a base coat on the clipboard, around the metal clip. I just cut my paper to fit just under the clip and don't bother with worrying about "around the clip", but I'm lazy that way . . .
