Smile What is swapping?

I have read the "Swapping 101" thread and others but I must be missing something because I don't get what "Swapping" is. Can somebody please explain?

Thank you!

:p

In a swap, you make a certain number of the same card, send it in to the swap host/hostess and get a bunch of different cards back that other people have made. There is usually a theme, and you usually make an extra for the host/hostess as their "payment" for doing the swap.

Swapping is when someone hosts a group of stampers who decide that they want to join. The hostess decides on a theme and how many cards that each stamper has to make...for example~5+1 means that the hostess would like 5 cards plus one card for herself. Depending on how many groups and how many in each group...you will receive cards back(you may or may not get one of your own back) She may make certain specifications that she would like-cardstock, stamps, techniques etc. or it may say NVR which means "No Vendor Restrictions" and you are free to use whatever materials that you have. The hostess will give you mailing instructions and a date that she needs to have your cards to her. She will give specific instructions about how she would like them to be mailed etc. Believe me, this is just the Reader's Digest version!

I hope that I have explained it to you well enough for you to understand. I am in my first swaps now. It is scary to begin but I am finding it to be so much fun. Take the plunge and try it...so I would suggest that you look through the swaps (cards) and read each one carefully. Find one that interests you and gives you plenty of time to design and make your cards and get them to your hostess. HTH

Have fun!!
