Default Help me PRIORITIZE my next order ... PLEASE!!!

I have a problem. I CANNOT seem to narrow down what I want to place on my next order. I have only order the new Paisley background stamp and the new colors (paper and ink pads) from the new catalog. So, what to order NEXT? Here is what is on my list (and I apologize for the all-caps ... I copied and pasted straight from the order page on the SU! site):

A LIGHT HEART STAMP SET
RIBBON STITCHED GROSGRAIN CRANBERRY CRISP 1/4 INCH
RIBBON STITCHED GROSGRAIN TRUE THYME 1/4 INCH
RIBBON STITCHED GROSGRAIN VINTAGE VIOLET 1/4 INCH
SNOW FLURRIES STAMP SET
DESIGNER SERIES PAPER HOLIDAY THYME 12X12
THINK BIG STAMP SET
HODGEPODGE HARDWARE AGED COPPER
TWILL TAPE
DOTTED STAMP SET
TAKE THREE STAMP SET
EAT CAKE STAMP SET (must have on my next order!)
PERENNIAL FAVORITES STAMP SET
JUMBO WHEEL ROUGH TEXTURE
THE SNOWFLAKE SPOT STAMP SET
ALL IN A ROW STAMP SET
WARM WORDS STAMP SET
PLAY ON WORDS STAMP SET
DESIGNER SERIES PAPER REBECCA 12X12
WILD ABOUT YOU STAMP SET (must have on my next order!)
BUGS & KISSES STAMP SET
CLASSY BRASS SEEING SPOTS
SEEING SPOTS STAMP SET
DESIGNER SERIES PAPER DOTS & DASHES 12X12
FLANNEL PLAID STAMP SET
CHEESECLOTH STAMP SET
PUNCH 1 1/4 INCH CIRCLE
BRADS BOLD BRIGHTS
BRADS EARTH ELEMENTS
BRADS RICH REGALS
BRADS SOFT SUBTLES
ON BOARD ACCENTS
CIRCLE OF FRIENDSHIP STAMP SET
ON BOARD TRIO ALBUM (I am going to be participating in an ATC swap and I need something to store my swaps in ... do I *need* this album?)

Am I missing any other treasures in the catalog?

I'd like to keep my order in the $150 range ... trying to spread out my purchases throughout the year. I could never use all the stamps at once, anyway!

Thanks for all your help!

My demo told me one time..............

If you are deciding which stamps to get and it close to fall/winter, but you have winter and springy type sets you want to get, then get the one that you will use this next upcoming season, and hold off on the other one. I did that, and glad I did, cause I never got the other once, cause I start not liking it.

I really like the cheesecloth background. When I first saw it, I was "hmm. how ugly", but it is so versatile and different. I don't think I've seen anything like it elsewhere. Just a thought!!

When do you anticipate using the snowflake set (snowflake spot, snow flurries, coordinating sets)? If not for at least a month or so, and you'll place an order then, don't order it this time.

Why not pick one or two of the brads and get the others later?

If you're getting Wild about you (a must have for me, too!), why not wait on Bugs and Kisses?

How about pick only one big background stamp?

Well...if you want A Light Heart....might want to order it now since it's only available for a month I think. That's what I am getting for stamp club this month.

Other than that....go for your wintery things....and stuff you want from the holiday mini first, then the rest of it after.

So, yes, of course you are missing other treasures in the catalog. Fortunately, you don't have to order them all today.

My suggestions for your order:

A Light Heart Stamp Set: $19.95
Eat Cake : $24.95
Wild About You: $22.95
Punch: 1-1/4" circle: $13.95
Classy Brass, seeing spots: $9.95
On Board Accents: $10.95
Ribbon, Stitched Grosgrain Cranberry Crisp, 1/4 inch: $7.95
Hodgepodge Hardware: $26.95
Cheesecloth: $16.95

Total: $154.55

Then, the $15 product bonus would go to:
Designer Series Paper, Rebecca: $5.95
Brads, earth elements (for autumn): $8.95

Why? Well, you had two sets you "need." So, those are on there automatically (and yes, you really do *need* Wild About You! ). I added A Light Heart because it is only available until the end of September. So, that's three new stamp sets, plus Cheesecloth for a background stamp. Then, the rest is accessories of various sorts. I'm not sure if your post meant that you had no hodgepodge hardware and so this would be your first hodgepodge hardware purchase or if you were just expanding your hardware selection. Assuming you have none, that went on there without a second thought. If you already have some, then it isn't as big of an emergency. I also put in new paper, a brass template for dry embossing, new ribbon, chipboard, colored brads, and a punch. I made sure you had stuff from the holiday mini (ribbon and paper) because it's just plain fun to play with the very latest stuff. Christmas-themed stuff was postponed since I'm assuming you'll order more as we get closer to that time of year.

I put all my needs and wants in excel with prices and order #s and then cut and paste a year of ordering and organize by the month! It even adds up my purchases for me. My demostrator thinks I'm crazy how I have all my orders set for the year, it's those darn minis that can mess you up! But it is easy to add or subtract an item depending on what you may need right away.

Advice...ah, how we love to give it...especially me! It's fun to "spend" someone else's money...

Get your Wild About You and your Eat Cake since you want them so badly. I agree that you could easily hold off on the bug stamps if you've got Wild About You.

Get the LIGHT HEART STAMP SET as it's for a good cause and limited edition if you feel you want it. I'm not sure how long it's going to be around but if it's for a while you might want to wait until late Dec/early January so you'll have it in plenty of time for Valentine's Day.

Get the Cranberry and thyme ribbon as they are more versatile (IMO) than the violet and Christmas is coming - you'll use lots then. If you already have a nice green, skip the thyme.

Get the snow flurries and Christmas paper if you are planning on using them THIS year. There'll be something else you NEED next Christmas so there's no point getting them if you're not going to use them. Best not to hold off if you are planning on using them for this year's cards.

Think Big could wait a few months...and maybe it would be nice for someone to give you for Christmas.

You can buy Hodge Podge "any" time so if you aren't desperate...hold off. Same with the Twill...and only get one set of brads for now...whichever ones you use that colour family of the most.

Hold off on the classy brass template AND the seeing spots. They would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for your Mom or MIL to give you...I'm sure people would love to know what to get you and you'll think of them every time you use them.

The album for your ATC cards...why not wait to see if it's something you'll really get into...they can be stored in just about anything for now.

Most of the stamp sets are going to be around for at least a year so they can be purchased gradually...and you should definitely get the one background stamp you want and one set of designer paper other than the Christmas stuff mentioned above...

Pick the one "word" set you want the most and go with that...

Whew! You're done!

That should keep you busy and creative for a while...but you gotta find someone to gift you the seeing spots...it's to die for!

The perennial dilemma...

At the last Techniques Club that I belong to, a friend and I each bought a set of brads and swapped half and half. That way we get double the colours but don't have to buy two sets at once. You could also try that with the Hodgepodge Hardware and see if someone wants to split a box with you.

Have fun deciding!

Default Just a thought

I have skimmed other suggestions -- sorry if this has already been suggested!!

May be you could check to see if there is a swap for the ribbon/brads/hardware you would like? It would really help with your expenses.

Goodluck I know it's hard I was "reviewing" my wish list last night. WOW!!! It's so difficult to cut items!!!!!!

Red face

This is the Queen of not knowing what to order speaking:
First look for the sets you love, that have mulitiple uses (example: Be Happy).
then look for the sets you love, that have more specific uses- the inbetween sets, like ....Happy Everything...
thirdly, if money remains (?!) look for sets that you just love, and have one use, but you have to have because of a memory, to treat yourself, a family member...etc...(a single flower, a certain design)
Just my 2 cents.....

I'll try a different approach to this one. Assuming you are a demo, are you placing orders that you will use at workshops? If so, will you have enough workshops scheduled after you receive the Light Heart Stamp and before the final sale date? You don't want to get it too late to demo it.

I have noticed at the workshops I attend that I (and most everyone else too!) tend to order the things demo'd that night so my advice is to choose things you can easily demo. While I love dry embossing, it might be difficult to use at a workshop so I would save that until last.

I know that right now I am really focusing on fall and Christmas time so I vote for the Christmas paper and stamps. (I bet that if you demo a card using that paper, you'll have alot of sales for it!) And if your project involves the ribbon, that will probably sell well too! Same with the stamps. Now is the time to be selling those Christmas stamps!

I personally love ALL of the punches and if I were a demo, I'd buy every one! Everytime I try out a different punch then I WANT it!!

I've noticed that the ladies in the stamp club I attend, don't use the rollers that much. I've heard several mention about having to buy the handle and the ink too and so they just don't buy them. It seems to be more of a "seasoned" stamper thing!!

Now having said all that, if you are ordering for your own enjoyment, try checking out the gallery for every set you have mentioned. Maybe you'll see something that will really sway you. Like you said, you already have some HAVE TO HAVE sets. The gallery just solidifies that for me!!

ya know, I like splitting the orders into smaller ones (always hostess level) so I pay more attention to the ones I really want

I think you have gotten some great advice, I had to slim down a wish list for an order I placed today

my must haves were the new colors and the flannel plaid background. As much as I love other sets I had to remind myself that I have all year to order those and that I will enjoy padding my order with some of the new punches so I can do more with the stamps I am ordering.

You definitely have to get Happy Everything....it is so versatile...

Then usually what I like to do (since I couldn't afford to purchase everything I want at once, my DH would KILL me!) is prioritize for the upcoming season....so basically I would get all the necessities for your Christmas cards, and then after Christmas, begin getting the other items on your list.

Happy Shopping!!

I have th bugs and kisses, but I haven't had any great inspirations from it yet. I need to just sit and play!

Glad, make that ..happy you listed it as an oversight. I'd love to see how you work this into your artistic designs.

You have some serious wish list issues, dear ... it's not nearly long enough!

You want A Light Heart because it's for a good cause, it's a cute set ...
Holiday Thyme paper 'cos it's cool
Maybe pick one of the stitched ribbons to start - remember you can buy more in November if you fall in love
You probably don't need the On Board Trio Album yet ... wait until November and get it then
The punch, 'cos everybody needs more punches
Think Big, because it has a lot of potential in the hands of an artist like you
Circle of Friendship, 'cos then you have another reason to use the punch!

That's all of my input for now! Let us know what you come up with!
Eat Cake and Wild about you 'cos you said you needed them ... with your boys, Wild about You will be great

I love the Seeing spots and the cheesecloth. I already ordered the seeing spots and I will order cheesecloth on my Sept club order.

When the new catty came out, I flagged everything that I wanted. Now when I place an order, I order according to what I have flagged within that season. For instance, now I would be ordering Halloween, Fall, Christmas, Leaves...type of stamp sets, along with any colors that go along with those seasons. I hope that helps.

If you decide to get Take Three and Perennial Favorites, you should definitely get the Four Seasons ds designer paper because it goes with both of those sets!
