I'm from NY and I'm trying to find out if you need to have a tax # to do fairs if you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. They say that if you are a demo. that you have your own business...but SU! is the one that does the tax end of it. I really want to do some fairs to make some money and sell some things too. I enjoy making things and it would just be nice to make some money to help off set the cost of what I buy. If anyone knows the answer or does craft fairs in NY please let me know. TIA!!! :-)
If you were JUST showing the Stampin Up catalog and booking workshops, you wouldn't need one. If, however, you want to also sell craft items that you made, then you would probably need one to sell just those items.
The best thing you should do...and to make sure you are getting the correct answer...is to contact your local agency that deals with business licenses.
Each state has an agency that deals with them, as well as each local city.

I called my town clerk and she gave the number of another office and they said they didn't know. Thought it was up to the venue the fair was being held. Then said to contact the NYS government office. I was just trying to avoid that if possible. Eveyone on here is always so helpful that I thought I would check here for any info. first.
