Talking Heat Gun and Acetate Paper

Anyone know how (or if) you can use the heat gun with acetate paper without making the paper bubble up? There is an Acetate Frost technique in the Technique Junkies Newsletter that I would like to try. First you sponge white craft ink over the acetate. Then you can use either alcohol ink or pigment ink reinkers to dot ink over the white craft ink. Then you're supposed to dab it with sponges to spread it around. Finally, you cover it in clear embossing powder and emboss. Well, everytime I try this, my paper bubbles and crinkles up. If I try to emboss with the heat gun further away, the embossing powder doesn't seem to melt. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try your hair dryer. It may take a bit long, but the heat is not as intense as with the heat gun.

You would think if they had a techique on it, it would work?

If you find out something else, let us know!

Do you have acetate sheets that are ink-jet printable?

I remember at my son's middle school, they had an ink-jet transparency that someone had run thru the laser printer - it was a melted, bubbled mess. Maybe whoever developed that technique used laser transparencies? They're made to withstand very high heat.

Yup....you need transparencies for laser printers. You still need to be careful and not keep the heat on one spot for a long time. But it won't melt as long as you're watching it.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks one and all! I'm off to the store (as soon as it opens) to buy laserjet transparencies!
