Default have you stamped on foam?

I was going through oriental trader and was looking at some of their project ideas and was wondering about stamping on foam cut outs-
we make christmas ornaments( about 20 for cousins and friends with kids - put name and year on them) every year and was thinking this would be cool stamp on the foam with a christmas / winter stamp and color it in with markers/ sharpies or paint... any ideas on how this would work... thinking stazon would be best
also contemplatign for my sons pre K class

I've stamped on foam, just not used ink on it before. I heated the foam up and then pressed the stamp into it to make the impression! It worked pretty well!

It smells though. Just so you know

Yes you can color them with Sharpies. It works fine.

Smells like burning plastic, cause that's what you're doing, KWIM? Not pleasant, but not overwhelming. Just make sure to do it in a ventilated area, especially when demo-ing.

Stamping on heated foam was one of the challenges during a VSN a few months ago. Here are some samples from the gallery that used that technique:
