Default 2 part question-Using up paper....would it be bad?

Part 1
Hey ladies, I have a questions. I have tons of 12 x12 paper. Or at least it seems like tons (over 400 pgs). I also have writing paper w/envelopes (white).
Would it be awful if I covered the paper? to look like a card? I've covered a couple and embellished. I would donate them to Cards for Soldiers. I asked my brother about cards, and he told me that when he was in Iraq that ANY paper of ANY kind was appreciated. Remember your toilet paper Christmas card sis? Duh. He suggested only embellishing the outside and not stamping a sentiment on the inside.
I've done a couple of cards this way...they seem very simple.
Part 2-
What size of cards do you usually work on? When I am viewing the gallery, I am unable to tell what size cards have been used. Are they note size cards or large cards.
Your feedback is needed and appreciated. Thank you!

If the cards you donate are for soldiers to use to write back home, then I agree with your brother. Any card that is plain white inside would be appreciated.

Size... Majority of the cards in the gallery are 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches. That's what you get if you cut an 8.5 x 11 piece of cardstock in half. You will see other sizes and shapes, but if the other stampers are like me, they forget to post the measurements.

I don't understand your question... I use my 12x12 paper for cards all the time. I use the patterned ones as DP and the plain ones as cardstock. I make all my cards 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and they fit the A2 envies. If you already have envies, make the cards the size to fit and you should be good to go.

Like your brother said, anything is appreciated by our soldiers and you should be commended for doing this!

Gotcha! Acronyms just make us sound so sophisticatedly smart. LOL
I guess my biggest worry is that, I don't want them to look "cheap or cheesey". My brother thinks I'm nuts. Maybe its the mass production part that is bogging me down. I spend alot of time on cards that I'm making for someone I know and just making a simple generic card for strangers is harder than it sounds. Maybe it's because I like foo foo(fancy) cards and these aren't. I'm just trying to use up some DP;) and some writing paper that I would NEVER use. (dh picked this up and "thought that I might use it sometime)
Hopefully some soldier will be home someday with their loved one and say...Remember that "I miss you card?" Where the heck did you get that thing? Yuck and they'll have a good laugh.
