...a background stamp that looks like wood grain? I'd love to find one that would look like wood paneling, or plank flooring, or that I could make a fence, or door, or trellis, or whatever from. I'd also like it to be big enough to use for the "kissing" technique with another stamp to give the image a wood-grain look. Anybody?

Yes, there is one a my local stamp store. I almost got it when I went last time. It is about as big as the SU BG stamps and about the same price.

Yup, go to www.addictedtorubberstamps.com and hit the search tab on the top. You can either type in wood grain or go to the SKU and type in 577401 It is made by All Night Media.

That is all that is listed on that site for woodgrain.

That is not the one that is in the store here, but you prompted me to browse their background stamps and there is a nice Tree background stamp that kinda looks like lovely as a tree trees LOL. Search for background.

The BG stamp I saw was large also, but had a bit of a tree bark feel from what I remember.

Thanks so much SCSers for your input - I'll check these sources out. I did look at the All Night Media one, and it looks good and I could probably improvise with it, but I'm really searching more for one that actually looks like paneling or flooring, but on a smaller scale - lots of planks with the lines already drawn in (not so much like a single piece of wood/lumber or tree trunk). Does that make sense? I'll go to my stamp store and check out the Hero Arts line, too. Thanks again, appreciate it!

The one shown on the website given above is just a little cheaper than the one at Michaels but it looks just like it. You may want to go to Ms and use a 40% off coupon if you like that one.

I have seen the look of wood on sample cards done with the direct to paper technique. Experiment by dragging the edge of your stamp pad on your card stock and see what you come up with.

Hi!
Clearsnap has (had?) a wheel of a plank of wood. I have it, but I haven't been to their website in a long time so I don't know if they still have it. Their website is www.clearsnap.com and the wheel does fit the SU handle and ink cartridges.

Hope this helps.

Use a Craft ink pad to get the best woodgrain look. I like to use Close to Cocoa.

Wow, thanks for all the great ideas, ladies! I'm going to my stamp store and check out the Hero Arts line (they had a couple but I need to see them "in person"), and same with All Night Media. The Clearsnap wheels looked promising, and I loved the cobblestone one also!! (This is going to end up costing me even more $$ now that I'm seeing other stuff I can't live without!!). And I'll also try the dtp technique, although the problem I anticipate with that approach is if I want to apply it to an already-worked on card, I'd have to do a lot of masking, so I'd prefer to have an actual stamp that I could control more. But, it gives me something to tinker with.

Thanks again for all your help -- I knew I could count on you guys!!

Wow, thanks Nan for that website - I checked it out and I love their tutorial on how to do the faux wooden floors (or whatever); I bookmarked it. Don't know if I even need to keep looking for a stamp now since their instructions are so complete. And thanks again to each of you for your input. I really do appreciate your help. Have a great rest-of-the weekend. (And for some of us...don't forget to set your clocks ahead!!)Linda
