Default Gold/Silver Cord ...

I don't know if this is OK or not ... are there any other sources of gold/silver cord besides SU?

Thanks in advance ...

I've found it in lots of places (my local Dollar store, craft store) - but it is NEVER as thin as the SU stuff. That is why I get the SU cord - one spool will last you a lifetime - there is like a million yards on teh spool (okay - maybe 25 or so???).

I get it at JoAnn. I also buy silver and gold embroidery thread there for a very fine look.

I love this cord and always buy the gold and silver from SU but "Wishing Well" stores carry it as well and they generally have other colors like red, blue, pink, purple and green. Seems to me it is like 5.00 for 75 yards..something like that

I've seen some that are close, but never exactly the same. SU's really is a great deal - maybe you could order all three colors and split them among a few of your customers?

I had been using the Silver Beading Cord in the beading section at Michaels. It comes on a cardboard card from Westrim. There is a LOT of it on the card!

Then I joined a sampler "swap" and got the SU stuff and it has WAY more sparkle than the Westrim stuff! It is an awesome deal.... you might see if someone will split a roll with you.... you buy silver, they buy gold and you each send the other person half?

Just a thought!

I buy my cord from SU. In fact, I bought a roll of gold at least 5 or 6 years ago. I've used it at lots of classes I taught, cards I sell, etc. and I still have a lot left. It really is a good deal.

I'd like to use the metallic cord I purchased wrapped around a card, but there are kinks in it; how did you deal with this issue?

What I do when there are kinks in ribbon or cording....verry, very quickly and carefully run the ribbon/cord across a light bulb.
The heat from the light buld will take the kinks out of the ribbon/cord.

Please do this carefully....I do not want to hear of anyone burning their project or house down.

I find it easier to use an organdy ribbon tie it in a knot and use the cord as an accent and tie a bit of it in a knot at the same point as the organdy. It just hangs oddly by itself it needs some help
