Default Glitter paper and dies

I know that glitter paper is really hard on my trimmer blades, but will it ruin my dies? I want to use some of my favorite dies for my Christmas cards, but I don’t want it to be the end of them if I do. TIA!

If I'm going to die cut glitter paper, I prefer to use it with dies that do not have a front/back, i.e. word dies must be cut from the front of the paper. Shapes such as rectangles, circles, et al can be cut from the back side of the glitter paper with a bit less damage to the die itself. If you can peel off the last layer of backing paper, the die can cut through the glitz easier, although the die cut may seem too thin for your purpose.

Still, there are just some dies that we really want to cut from glitter paper, and those are the times that I do so!

There are some glitter papers that are very thin. I forgot the brand name. If you want to know, let me know and I will see if I can find some here.

Also you can make your own by using DS adhesive sheets on 65# CS and a fine micro glitter.

Both of those should not IMHO, hurt your dies.

Another choice might be to die cut plain CS, paint with glue and pour glitter on it. I use my finger tip so I don't ruin paintbrushes. I don't know which dies you want to use but maybe that is possible?

I would avoid the heavy, chunky glitter paper unless you are going to use steel rule dies that can handle thicker stuff.

Thank you! I’ll try both of those suggestions. I do have quite a few of the old steel dies, but they’re more appropriate size-wise for scrapbooking rather than my cards. I should go through them and doublecheck, though. Been a long while since I’ve scrapbooked, so haven’t even looked at them, lol.

I'd agree with Margot that the glitter shouldn't harm your dies.

I'm just here to say the Rotatrim is the bomb - and no issue with glitter paper. The "disposable" blades are just that - regular cardstock is as hard on them as glitter paper.

I had to look to see what a Rotatrim was, as I hadn't heard of it. I hope glitter paper doesn't harm dies, as I love the look of it!
