There is a rumor that they are no longer available from the manufacturer. That's the only reason I could see them being retired. They have been such a huge hit that I can't see them retire if they are still available.

Yep, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go with the manufacturing issue. So, what's a girl to do? Stock up! I have a "few" extras. (I'm not only addicted to rubber, I'm addicted to pens ;-).) I was going to pass them out to a few friends, then I guess I either forgot or got greedy- don't remember which.
I certainly hope not! If it is in SU!s control, then I don't think they will retire. I had heard they worked out a deal with the manufacturer, so I am hoping not. If they do I bet they've found a really good replacement though. With the faux stitching technique that is so popular they will need one.
hmmm...is signo really the only company that manufactures a white pen that shows up on dark paper?! surely our friends at SU could hook up with another mfr in the event that the signo deal doesn't pan out!
I cannot keep count of how many "white gel pens" I have purchased that SUCK!!!! Not all white gel pens are created equal! I recieved my first SU white pen last night and cannot wait to use it as I have heard nothing but the best about this pen. I sure hope it does not retire!
When I asked about this a couple months ago, someone here (sorry, I can't remember who) reported that the Signo pen was becoming exclusive to SU--so we can still get it, but the only way to get it is thru Stampin Up.
The Signo Uniball pen has the best coverage for a white gel pen, and I have tried every one I could get my hands on. I have seen the Signo's in office supply catalogs in other colors, but not white - so maybe SU! has an exclusive deal.
I sure am going to stock up on Signo pens and glossy white paper - because I think the price of paper will likely go up. (It's gone up everywhere else).
I love those Signo pens. Hope they are around for a while.
I guess it's time to stock up. I tried to find the Signo white gel pen at Office Max and Office Depot because they have other Signo pens - but not the white one. There is a bic white-out pen that makes a very thin line, but it's hard to use because you have to squeeze it while you write. I'm going to an SU retirement party next week, so I'll have to put a few of those on my order!
This pen is so far superior to any other white pen out there IMO. I have stockpiled a couple extras, but maybe I will have to get one more on my next order. I cannot imagine such a superior product being discontinued, but alas, it has happened before. I wonder what the secret is that the other companies are clueless about. Should not be rocket science, IMO!
not sure if it will retire, but there are a few online places you can get them.. so that leads me to think that they will still be available..
guess it depends if su wants to carry it anymore...
jshurkus, can you share a few links with us? I cant find the white signo gel pen anywhere on line ... other colours yes, but not the white.
subscribing - I'd like to know as well.
All the graphic arts places I have checked do not carry white. Locally, we have the uniball signo gel pens in lots of colors, including a silver and gold but no white.

I did a Google search a month or two ago, when the rumors about SU! no longer selling the pen started on this site, and nearly every online store that came up had stopped selling that particular pen. I do not believe that SU! is discontinuing this item, and that the rumors began as a result of other stores no longer carrying it.

I sooo hope you are right! Thanks for all the great responses, everyone...I just got this pen last Wednesday, and I am already planning on getting a couple more for my last order for retireds....I enjoy writing with this pen more than a person should...I find myself wishing I had dark paper all the time...can I marry my pen?? LOL....
I have seen them being distributed in other places as well, so I too believe that Uniball will continue to make the Signo pens no matter what. If I see them pop up again I'll add the link here as well.
I just started a review on Gelly Roll pens on my blog - they have a new white glaze pen that I am loving as well - it is different then the Signo pen. I will try and post a pic of the differences later for you to see, but I do think that you will be able to find other products to replace it if it is discontinued. These pens are sooooo very addictive - LOL. Then again - what isn't?!?
They have a lot of nice pens here, even the souffle ones which I've been wanting to try. The price is not bad, either, but I haven't looked into shipping charges yet.

I had to buy a differnet brand so I tried two other ones. Neither Michael's nor Staples had the one I wanted that SU sells. Staples employee said they stopped making them...yikes I can;t live wihtout them. :{

I sent an email directly to the manufacturer of the Signo white gel pen and received a very nice reply that said that they were very sorry but that pen has been discontinued. Hopefully, SU has found another supplier for a similar pen!

I did the same thing and got a very quick response that I copied below...I really, really hope that SU found someone else to make them. I spent about $20 on white gel pens before breaking down and buying the SU! pen and it is AWESOME! I am emailing my demo right now to add one to my order!
Hello, Thank you very much for contacting us about our uni-ball Signo (white). We pride ourselves on the brands we manufacture and listen closely to feedback from our consumers. Sanford strives to learn more about potential challenges with our products so we can continue to provide the highest quality, performance driven products on the market today.
Unfortunately, we no longer manufacture this product and do not have a suggested replacement at this time.
We are sorry that we are unable to fill your product needs.Have a good day, and we trust this information will be helpful!
so if we are needing to stock up on these - does anyone know their shelf life? Granted, they'll be used *fairly* quickly; however, if you were to buy in bulk and say a year later, would the ink still flow well?
SU will publish their list of retiring accessories on the 21st, so we'll know for sure after that if they won't be carrying it.... Although if it IS retiring, they'll only sell them until June 30th or until they run out, whichever comes first, so be ready to stock up, just in case!
I mean, that pen IS an accessory, right? (Not trying to be snarky, really, it's just that everyone's definition of "accessory" seems to be different!)
I too would be interested in knowing about the possible shelf life of this pen. Dang it! Just when I finally found a great white pen they quit making it. That is just the way my luck seems to run. I have one and am considering picking up a couple more if they hold up well.
Just great!! I guess I jumped on the bandwagon a little late. I just ordered a white gel pen. After reading the all the responses, I see I should have ordered in bulk:( I know what will be on my next order...
