Gina K and rubber stamp sets, what did I miss?
Is Gina K discontinuing rubber stamps and going only to clear? Did I miss something? The last two releases have not included real rubber stamps except for a few. I emailed them twice but got no response on this question. I subscribe to her blog and all but did I miss something?
I love the real rubber stamps and will not buy clear, I don't care how much they push photopolymer as being so great. I don't like the feel, the look, the way they take ink, you can't use them for certain techniques, etc., etc.
Any Gina K fans out there know what is going on?

I don't know whether Gina K. is discontinuing rubber or not, but I do have to say that her clear stamps are not like others. I was very skeptical at first, but I ordered a freebie set I'd earned in clear just to try it. It inks up better than any other clear stamp I've tried, the solid stamps ink up perfectly even with dye inks.
As for not getting a response to your email, that may be because Gina and her family are spending time together for spring break. I got an email about that last week, they have a limited staff this week.

I will be honest Gina is very prompt with any reply here and on her forum unless she is away. I have always been very impressed with her customer service - but she takes a lot on personally. I'm sure she will reply when she has a chance.
I'm just a very satisfied rubber AND clear stamp purchaser from many vendors including GinaK.

Just out of curiosity, what techniques are you not able to do with clear stamps? I have been wavering back and forth about whether I should venture into clear stamps with SU beginning to offer them.

There is a technique where you cover cardstock with versamark then embossing powder and heat it. When it is hot you put your RUBBER stamp in it. It has the affect of looking like a wax seal. I have never done this technique so it isn't something I miss.
So basically anything where you add heat.
There is another technique with rubber stamps where you can stamp fabric with a nape with heat and a rubber stamp to get a texture.

Hi guys,
Soooo sorry that you haven't gotten a response! There may be a problem with some emails not getting through. I will look into that when I return from our family vacation.
In the meantime, we have stopped doing many if our sets in rubber mostly due to demand however our new StampTV kit, debuting on April 4th will be available in rubber only.
All of our future duos and mini sets will continue to be produced in rubber as well. We thought we would try clear only for several releases and then re-evaluate the demand at that time.
Most of our customers who have tried our clear stamps tell us they prefer them at this time.
As far as an issue with our cardstock, we would be more than happy to replace that pack of Kraft or refund or exchange for another color if you are not happy.
Also, make sure you use the [email protected] email address and not the contact form through StampTV. The StampTV address is for technical problems viewing videos, etc... And does not go to our online store customer service department.
Hugs,
Gina K.

I am bummed also about the move to clear stamps. I will only use rubber, have heard too many bad things about clear. They may stamp great today, but what about after a few years in storage, etc. I agree that Gina K has great service, and will continue to buy her cardstock. I really wished I could have completed my collection of the state flower stamps before they went to clear.

Thank you for responding Gina! Especially if you are on vacation. Let me just say I love your stamps and paper and this is the first time I've had a problem getting a reply. I am just really disappointed that Gina K seems to be moving to clear stamps. I know they're photopolymer, well made and all. I just love real rubber! Especially your rubber stamps are so fantastically well made compared to everyone else. I do a lot of stamping into UTEE and I also love stamping with bleach neither of which photopolymer can handle. But you know, I just don't like the feel of the photopolymer either. I hope all the rubber lovers out there weigh in by purchasing the new kit. I can't wait to see it.

I'm one of those that if there is no difference in price as with the Gina K rubber vs clear, I will always choose the rubber.
