Here's my contribution: (Fancy Bath Salts; my sister gave it the name below) Relaxation Potion 1 part Baking Soda 2 parts Epsom Salts Lavender Essential Oil - until you reach the desired scent Eucalyptus Essential Oil - until you reach the desired scent Rosemary Essential Oil - until you reach the desired scent You can add colorant as well. I suggest the one available at M's. I usually just leave mine white. It's the scent that I love... don't need any color. I usually put two or three times the amount of lavender than the eucalyptus and/or rosemary. Mix all the ingredients in a metal bowl with a metal spoon and spoon into your jars... you can use anything from pint on up It is so lovely. Maybe it can be grouped in a basket with other bath items: a washcloth, lotion, etc. |
wow, I think all my ideas have already been posted so if they are repeats so sorry.....I'm also thinking there are mixes out there that you can make a bunch and then scoop enough into a pint jar--so portion sizing--like for drink mixes, seasonings etc
jam---homemade freezer jam is the best stuff ever Texas Cornbread Mix http://organizedchristmas.com/recipe...-cornbread-mix DILL DIP 3/4 cup dill weed 3/4 cup accent (optional) 3/4 cup season salt 3/4 cup onion flakes 3/4 cup parsley flakes Combine all and place in a container. The pint size jelly jars would be perfect here ;-). To use: combine with 1 cup sour cream and one cup Miracle Whip in a small bowl AND 3TBS of your dip mix. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to blend. This makes an excellent vegetable dip as well as one for chips. Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix 2 Tsp. chili powder 1 1/2 Tsp. paprika 1 Tsp. onion powder 1/2 Tsp. salt 3/4 Tsp. garlic salt 1 Dash red pepper Mix all together. Makes 1 package of store bought mix. INSTANT SPICED TEA 2 cups powdered orange breakfast drink 1-1/2 cups sugar 3/4 cup instant tea 2 packages unsweetened lemonade mix 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Mix the ingredients and put them into a plastic container or double plastic bag. Label the mix "Spiced Tea. Add 2 heaping teaspoons to 1 cup boiling water." Cafe Swiss Mocha Flavored Coffee 1/4 C. Powdered Creamer 1/3 C. Sugar 1/4 C. Instant Coffee 2 T. Powdered Baking Cocoa Process in a blender on liquify until well blended. Store in an air tight container. Use by tablespoonfuls according to taste. Spoon in cup and add hot water. Instant Cappucino 1 c. powdered creamer 1 c. powdered chocolate milk mix 2/3 c. instant coffee 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg Mix all ingredients together. Use 1 heaping Tbls. per cup of boiling water. Store in airtight container. |
Beef Barley Soup Mix
1 pint container 3/4 C medium pearl barley, divided 1/2 C dried lentils 2 tsp. dried parsley flakes 1/4 C dried minced onions 1/4 C instant beef bouillon powder 2 tsp. dried celery flakes 1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves 2 bay leaves 1/4 tsp. black pepper 1/4 tsp. dried minced garlic Layer soup kit ingredients in the pint container in order listed, using half of the barley first and then the remaining barley at the top. Close container securely. Attach cooking instructions: BEEF BARLEY SOUP 1 jar Beef Barley Soup Mix 2 lb. boneless beef chuck, cut into � to 3/4-inch pieces OR 2 lb. lean ground beef 1 T vegetable oil 10 cups water Heat oil in large Dutch oven over medium heat and brown the meat. Pour off drippings. Add the contents of the soup mix and water to the Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover tightly and simmer for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours or until beef is fork tender. Discard bay leaves. YIELD: 8 servings. |
