Default Not Mounting SU Stamps ?

I have placed my 1st order for some retiring stamp sets and I don't plan to mount them on the wood but rather use the poster tape on my acrylic blocks as others have posted about here. Since I have never seen SU stamps "raw", what will I need to do when I get my order?

I assume all I would need to do is just cut out the rubber pieces. Is the rubber attached to any foam or is that separate?

Thanks!!

You simply need to trim the stamps and remove the brown paper backing. You won't need the tape because the foam that is attached to the rubber has the adhesive on it already. Enjoy!

Won't the adhesive on the cushion stick permanently to the acrylic block? (I've never tried this.)

I did this with new sets recently: trim, remove paper backing & stick on the clear cling sheets & trim again. Works great for me. Stored in CD cases - I put the image sheet in the CD case. By placing the stamps close together on the cling, I got 4 sets on about 2/3 of a sheet.

That is pretty much what I do too. (My indexing system is a bit different.) The cling stuff sticks to the acrylic blocks really well, except for some of my tiniest images. If something doesn't cling right, I can always use non-permanent double-sided tape. The cling stuff is so quick and so unmessy to work with.

I thought I read somewhere where people were just using the rubber and tape without having to buy the cling sheets???? I wonder what they are sticking the backs of the rubber/foam to????

Were the stamps they were using SU ones? Or plain rubber ones from another source?

I think you can probably peel the foam layer off the rubber from SU stamps so that both the foam and the sticky part is gone. Then you will have bare rubber to start with.

I've been going bare rubber lately and LOVE it!! When I get sets from SU I just peel the rubber off of the foam, and apply Aleenes Tack it Over and Over glue on the back and let it dry. I have yet to have a problem

Most of my sets are rubber mounted on cling, but I am liking the bare rubber too.

One nice thing about bare rubber and TIOO is that you can use both side of the CD case for storage. But like most of the other posters I attach the SU stamp and foam to cling vinyl. Easier to be an "never-mounter" than an unmounter!

I haven't bothered doing anything other than peeling off the brown backing. So far there haven't been any problems with the stamps refusing to come off the acrylic block or the CD case. If I don't have to bother with another step such as putting the stamp on the cling I'm not going to because I have little enough time to stamp as it is.

it's very easy to remove the foam..........most of the sets i've bought this past year have peeled right off (kind of scary how easy!!).
i use ez-mount and then store them in 3-ring binders.
