Default Getting a crisp impression using the Big Kick (Big Shot)

Hi, everyone!

I am really, really struggling to get nice, crisp, embossing impressions with my Big Kick and I'm getting so frustrated. I see so many pictures of all your cards and the embossing is fabulous........meanwhile, mine doesn't even really show up.

I use a number of different folders/plates and I'm so confused as to what to do. Yeah, I know that the platform has directions, but I think those are even more confusing.

Can someone tell me the sandwiches I should use for the following?

Cuttlebug folders
Sizzix plates
PTI's Metal Impression dies (really can't get this one)
Nesties (I can cut them, but forget about embossing them)

I have the regular Tab1/Tab2 platform, black impression plate and the rubber mat and the two clear plates and even bought PTI's little brown rubber mats.......I'm just at a loss.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For my Big Shot....

Nesties are...from the bottom up. Platform with all tabs closed. Nestie, cut edge UP. Cardstock/paper. Two Sizzix plates.

To emboss, remove the plates. Leave the die, cut end up. 2 of the Spellbinders rubber mats. Then, they say to use a tri-fold piece of cardstock, I use a piece of grungepaper, as a shim. Then ONE of the Sizzix plates.

If this recipe works for you, then the rest of my Big Shot ones should, and I'll figure out more of 'em.

And here on SCS, under Stamping Stuff, Tool and Product Talk, there's a Big Shot forum that will answer EVERY question, I'm sure.

Thanks sooooooooo much for telling me about this. I used my PTI plate last night and got a super crisp emboss. Check it out!

I'm just playing around with this design and tweaking it for cards, so it's not how I want it yet.........except the impression! I'm VERY happy with that!

For my big shot I use the platform all closed, 1 acrylic plate, nesties with cut side facing up, another acrylic plate, roll the entire thing through and it will cut nicely. For embossing don't use tab 2. 3 pcs of scrap papers, 1 acrylic plate, nesties with cut side facing up, 1 cutting mat, acrylic plate, roll through and the embossing will turn out nicely.

Remember that not all embossing folders, impression plates, nestabilities, texture plates, etc will give the same deep impression. They are not meant to. Putting extra paper in the sandwich could only stand to damage your machine. Realize the item you are using and understand what results should be expected, don't expect the same from everything. Impression and embossing are not the same thing.

The instructions on the platform for the BIGkick are very good to follow as they are pictures to follow. For the Nestabilities, follow the instructions on that website. Other items also have instructions on their websites to follow.
