Default Gel Pens?

I have a ton of them that I got years ago and never used. Many of them are just dried out, even ones I bought recently. Do I throw them out or is there a trick to getting the 'ink' to come out? The only ones I really like that write smoothly without drying out so quickly, is the Sakura Gelly Pens but even a few of these dry out. I'm about to throw out the old dried out pens but didn't want to regret it if there's a way to 'retrieve' the ink. Anyone's thoughts?

I don't know. I always had the same problem too.

Any ideas anyone?

Me too! I hate to throw them away when they look perfectly full but the darn ink will not come out. Bumping for any tips.

This question has come up before. A couple of suggestions...
* Run the tip under hot water. Might loosen the dried end.
* Shake it like you do a thermometer. Might move the ink to the tip.
* Soak the tip in alcohol. Might soak in to where it's clogged.

And my reminder to myself... Don't buy so many next time!!!

That is entirely possible. I bought one of those huge cheap packages at Costco.Probably they are meant for kids not for real artwork.

I agree with you. I have about 20 different Sakura gel pens and they sat in storage for 18 months. I pulled them out last week and they all still work.

Remember to store all your pens horizontally, not vertically!

Oh Shoot! I thought that was only for felt pens.

I make sure I store all my pens horizontally and I never have any problems.

I can't remember where I learned this, but supposedly if you put them in the freezer overnight, they will write again. I've also read that you can store them in the freezer... Don't know if it works, but give it a try - can't hurt, right?
