Default Free SU Catty?

If you're a member of a monthly Stampin' Up! club does your demonstrator give you a free catalogue just as if you were a hostess of a regular workshop?

When I used to be a demo all club members got 1 free catty or if they already had one I gave them the equivalent in a merchandise credit. Just wondering if most demos do this or if some sell the catties to their club members?

In my opinion, club members are hostesses and therefore are "entitled" to a free catalogue. I am currently in 2 SU clubs with different demos. One of them offers a free catty or the equivalent in merchandise and the other one does not.

Anyone who hosts a party for me gets a catalogue... including my Club Members. The more I treat them to, the more then seem to spend!

The only time a Host wouldn't get a catalogue from me would be if she already has one...then I come up with another idea of a gift for her (or offer her the catalogue in case she'd like to give one to a friend)

Does the one that does not offer any other "deals"? Just curious.

Yep, I give them to my Stampers Club....when this last round started, the catalog was already out for a while and they all had it so for their final treat this July (our last meeting this round) they will all get a NEW catty for free.

She sells them for $6.50 I think. Not sure if there is tax and shipping on that.

Default Free Catty

My demo gives all club members free catty's. However, as an added bonus she used to take all of them to the local print shop and have them wire bound for us for easier viewing too. The average cost for this was about $5 and it really helped when you were looking through such a large catalog!

FYI, I also give them a "gift" every month in addition to the Hostess benefits that rotate around the group. One month it was a paper pack, another it was travel candles in cute little tins, another month it was candy bags with toppers...I think it makes it more fun and a little "goodie" is just a thank you and also an idea for something they can make on their own!

Default Catty

I'm in an every other month Stamp Club - we are required to order $25 at each camp to stay "current". We receive the catty and all the minis for free.
The minis come to us in the mail.

My demo rocks!!!

Yes, in CA, before I moved I was in 3 groups..One demo gave a catty to the hostess.IF..you already had a catty and your hostess month was before July when the new catty came out, then you could wait til July and get the new catty..! OR, if you needed the current catty then it was FREE and then you could also purchanse the new catty for $5 in July!!

The other demo gave $5 merchandise credit since most of us had a catty from the first group

Third demo did nothing either. But we did get her 20% discount on our orders!!

I've been in clubs with 2 different demos over the past few years. Both did it exactly like this.

Isn't the free catty an SU! hostess benefit just like the hostess sets and the free merchandise? If you're a club member, you're a guaranteed hostess - that's really what clubs are all about, right?

I was in a club in Dayton that did not get a free catty. Essentially the demo was the host- we met at her house, she provided the treats etc. She was just sharing her hostess benefits with us.

I think this is fair, as I'm wasn't doing any of the duties of hostess- ie. Finding people to come to the party!!!

I do appreciate ones that give catalogs, but for the most part- unless I join right when the catalog year starts, I already have the catalog. I would not expect to be compensated with a similiar amount of product (although I have heard of people who do!)

My demo has always given out catalogues. I've never paid for one in two years.

However, with two catalogs coming out a year, she has decided that she will give us the Fall/Winter and we will need to purchase the Spring/Summer, but the purchase will be at her cost (what she pays SU for them), so she's not making any money on them.

I've never paid for minis or SAB, either. And she will continue to send those out at her cost.

I didn't vote, but I've worked primarily with two demos in the last three years..... The first one I started with (and still order from occasionally because she does GREAT specials) has always given free catalogs with orders above (fill in the dollar amount). I got an e-mail from her a few days ago, and I think the amount this year is $60, placed anytime after May 1.

Her down-line (and the one I order most from lately) thinks it's stupid to charge for catalogs if you're trying to sell the stuff in it, so she gives them away to anyone who wants one.

I'm a demonstrator, so I'm not in a club, but all of my club members do receive a complementary copy of the catalog.

All my club members get a free catty since they ARE hostesses on their month - with it all being switched to 2 catty's a year they're still going to get a free one and the other I will prolly sell to them at my cost (I haven't thought it out yet but that's prolly what I'll do!)

I am not in a club, but my demo does give me a catty because I am one of her best customers and I host a big show for her every year. I would buy one because they are the best deal in town, but my awesome demo gives me one (:

I joined a club in October and she offered me a catty but I had already gotten one. She did not offer me an alternative.

My demo gives up the catty for her cost (so we pay about $5). I would prefer a free catty, but I am willing to pay for it.

I'm a demo and don't have any clubs running yet, but I think all of the members should get a free catalog. However, I could also understand wanting to make sure that a member fulfills the comittment and actually hosts before the catalog is free, so in my mind it would be OK to charge $5.00 for the catalog up front with the understanding that each hostess would get a $5.00 reduction during the month she is the hostess, so that the catalog would, in fact, be free.

I am a demo that has 2 clubs and will have at least 2 clubs starting again in July. Each member gets a free catalog plus minis mailed to them, and I have decided that they will also get a free one in January. I also do hands on workshops, so they get to take home 3 completed projects each month with new techniques learned.

My demo always gives a free catty to anyone in her clubs, or who hostesses a party without being in a club. My then 10 year old daughter had a party (and I don't think she made the minimum club order, either) and she insisted on giving her a catty because she was a hostess (she combined her order with another customer's to make a party.) I tried to talk my demo out of it (the free catty), but she gave it to her anyway and my daughter was so thrilled, she is a customer of hers for life, LOL! She has spent a lot of her own money and mine since then on SU!

I *had* to have a second party myself this year, the level one hostess sets just called my name! My demo gave me one free catty with my club party and then the option of an ink pad or mixed paper pack to replace the second free catty I would have received, I was very pleased with that choice! (I got a Cool Caribean ink pad for my now 13 year old daughter with the second party!)

When I was in a SU club my demo always gave us free catalogs. My CTMH demo also does the same for her club members.

My demo charges $5 for a catty...even to club members. Free would be nice & a great incentive to buy more stuff.

Free catty if we host the club once/year which we do because we have less than 12 members. Now that there are two catty/year, we may not get both free....we are discussing that.
