Default What is the name for.....

the hardware which attaches 3-ring (or 2-ring) notebooks to the spine of the notebook? I'm sure someone here will know. I think Tim Holtz used to have some for a book you had to put together yourself (for his tags maybe)? I'm just not finding the right words to search for somewhere to buy the hardware.

They are called ring binder mechanisms: https://smile.amazon.com/Ring-Binder...s%2A=0&ie=UTF8

The Tim Holtz collection is discontinued: Tim Holtz Ring Binder Large

The video on this post: http://timholtz.com/2017-sneak-peek-...orage-studios/ shows the new version with rings attached.

Thanks, that's getting closer but I'm looking for the (decorative) hardware that attaches those ring binder mechanisms to a book, not the mechanisms themselves. Maybe I'm just dreaming that I ever saw something like this, but I thought sure there had been something other than just brads to attach them.

Oh, I see what you're after. I've used Hitch Fasteners with the longer screws.
I've attached the mechanism with twine and ribbon, too. A Google image search turns up some leads for ideas (maybe the one you are after): tim holtz worn binder art - Google Search

Tim never designed anything specific other than the brads. I heard him say on a video that was why they come as one piece now.
