Smile Flowers out of metal repair/duct tape?

I was at the pool the other day, thumbing through a Creating Keepsakes Mag, (March 2006, i think) and saw an article on how to make flowers from duct tape, the smooth kind.

I have searched around on the internet for more info, including on the CK site. Has anyone done this? You use a pencil or something to draw/carve your design, cut it out, use acrylic paint to paint it, when almost dry you rub it with a tissue to remove a little paint, and it ends up looking like distressed, painted metal. I think they sound fun, and I am going to try a few.

I just wondered if you double sided it to keep the back from being sticky, or not.

It sounds like a great idea and I have never seen it, but if I was doing it, I would stick 2 pieces together and then cut out my design. It would keep it from sticking to everything. You could then adhere it to your project with the redline tape. HTH!

I LOVE making stuff from the shiny duct tape aluminum. It's easy to work with, has its own adhesive and you can use it in so many ways. I don't know about uses in scrapbooks since I don't know if it's acid free, but I use it frequently on cards. I have used my sizzix to die cut shapes, you can stamp on the back (adhesive side-prior to removing the adhesive) and then take an embossing stylist to go around your design which leaves a beautifully embossed image. I've embossed a square, then cut on the diagonal for pretty photo corners (I use a piece of cardstock underneath so it doesn't actually touch my photo)
Just play around with it and find out more ways you can use it! Just don't forget to share your work with us...we want to see what you come up with!
