A Little Birdie Told Me Help with old pictures

I need some help. I have received a few old photos of my grandmother that were originally glued down on those old "black paper" photo albums. The problem: I have a family picnic photo that still has black paper attached to it and I can see - on the back - that my grandmother (now deceaced) had written down the names in either pencil or light pen. Can anyone share any ideas on how to get the "black paper" off of the photo so I can read the back of the card to put the info in a new book?? Thanks for the help!

If you have a loose edge try using dental floss. Work slow so you don`t rip the photo. Good luck. I do this when I glue a stamped image on a card and It`s crooked .

Thank you so much! I do have a loose edge so I will try the dental floss - I would never have thought of that. I so hope it works - It is a picture of my great grandfather, great grandmother and all 13 of their children! My grandmother is in the picture and is one of the older siblings - the portion I can still read shows that she was 26 at the time. Thanks once again for your great advise!!

Try some UnDu. That has saved many an old glued-down photo for me. Good luck, and I hope you can get it off. Wow! What a photo!

I LOVE Un-Du!!! However, it can be hard to find in some areas because of EPA stuff. When I found it about a year ago I bought 6 bottles of the stuff.

I did 4 90 pages albums of my parent's lives and that stuff actually conditioned the photos and the fading stopped.

I LOVE Un-Du!!

You might try putting the photo in the freeze for a few hours.

I think it's available in Michael's again. It might also be available in the other big craft stores or smaller local stores. I hope it works for you.
