I am making gifts for my kids Sunday school teachers and I was thinking of stamping on a vase using the "In Full Bloom" set. I have several questions, so if anyone has experience with this, please let me know. My questions are:
Have you ever stamped on a flat-surface glass vase?
If so, did you use Staz-On?
Did you color in the image at all?
Did you seal it and if so, with what?
I figured if anyone knows, it will be someone from SCS.
I too would like to know. I've stamped on glass votive holders, with stazon and then colored the image in with sharpies and it turn out okay. Not sure if it will last the image like on a vase with water. I hope someone on here has some tips to tell.
I've stamped solid images on glass, no coloring needed. Your surface needs to be clean, and you need to use Stazon. I didn't seal mine, so I can't help you there.

Yes.

No. I used various Staz-On colors of ink pads. Staz-On is solvent based ink, and solvent based coloring instruments, such as Sharpies, etc. can cause it to smear and muddy.

No, but I didn't expect the object I was making to be handled frequently.
Unfortunately, I don't know of a sealer that might NOT cause it to run/bleed out, considering that it's a glass surface. Krylon can be very carefully, and lightly dusted in numerous coats, allowing each one to dry before the next one, on things like formica chips, polyshrink, etc. , but I haven't tried that on GLASS surfaces yet. I suspect it could cause the Staz-On to run/bleed out, however?
That said, it's possible there IS a sealer out there; I just haven't seen or heard of an effective one yet for the above application.

Thanks so much in advance.
I'd be interested in hearing others' experiences, as well, regarding the above.

I have stamped on glass votives with Staz-on - works ok for things that aren't going to be handled and washed...the glass is not pourous so the ink just sort of sits on top of the glass...overtime the image can be "wiped" away due to handling...
I have been using stamps, clear EP and etching cream to etch glass votives and vases...learned here at SCS - just go to the gallery and search for glass etching.

Yes, I've stamped on the small candle holders. Used different colors of Stazon or just black, then I used a small paint pallet, mixed just a drop of crystal effects in each of the "pallet trays" and added a drop of re-inker. A drop goes a long way. Used paint brush to paint inside of outlined imagine. Turned out really nice.
I haven't ever really stamped on glass, but I remember my demonstrator (from a long time ago) said to stamp on glass with acrylic paints. That was before Staz-on came out though, so I don't know which would be better.
I have stamped on Glass. And I used Staz-on Ink and Glaze Gel Pens to color. After it dried I use a Spray on Sealer. The Glaze Gel Pens look great on it. I have sprayed water on it and then wiped it off, It still look good to me.
I say if you are going to deal with Glass then Etching it is your best...and most permanent option. See my gallery for pics; but I will attach the instructions here. Good luck!
TiP: I have since found that BLACK SU embossing powder is the best to use with this method!
I stamped martini glasses with stazon using Simple Circles.
The ink will wash off even with hand washing. I tried a spray on sealer but did not like the effect and didn't feel it was good for something you would put near your mouth. It might be OK for a vase, though. I learned on this wonder site, SCS to seal with Pebeo glass medium (just below the "lip line") after I stamped and following the directions to bake it.
Worked like a charm and still good after many martinis (favor for a girls weekend...) However, the "olives" I stamped turned from olive/red to blue/red!
