Question White gel pens... Am I the only one frustrated???

Forgive me if there is already a thread about this!

I have searched high and low for the perfect white gel pen. I have two or three and they range from horrible to mediocre. I just lost my best one and when I was trying to make a card the other night had to use the second best one which worked about 10 percent of the time. Needless to say... I gave up on that card! Does anyone else have this problem??? Has someone found a white gel pen out there that actually works???

Does anyone have the SU white gel pen? (It's a Uni-ball Signo gel pen) I heard that might work better and thought I'd give it a try, but I thought I'd see if anyone out there had it and had any input on it before I order. Any input would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Yes, it is wonderful. Just used it last night. The only trick is that you shouldn't press too hard or it will skip.

SU Signo White Gel pen is the BEST one out there by FAR! I'm on my second one And if they ever discontinue it, I'm buying a BUNCH! LOL

I tried every other one I could find and had nothing but bad luck.

Get the Signo, you won't be dissapointed.

Not sure if these are the same pens, but I have some Jelly Roll glaze gel pens by Sakura. So far, I have a black one and a clear one. I do believe they make a white one too. I have just started buying them and hope to soon have more colors. So far I have been happy with them.

I too have had problems with other white gel pens, so I was reluctant to buy the SU one. I was so happy I did, though. It works beautifully. Haven't had any trouble with it at all. The flow is great and consistent. I'd highly recomment it!

SU white gel pen all the way baby!!!

When I was looking for one, I happened on a post or thread by JulieHRR (cannot remember when but it was a number of months ago). She said it was the bomb so I had to have it. I have not been disappointed!!:p

I have the Sakura Gelly Roll in white and I have never had any problems with it. I store my gel pens point down, I don't know if this makes any difference or not.

I love the SU white signo one, it works great, even if you don't use it for a long time, and it really sits *on* the paper, rather then soaking into the paper, a big plus for me. I have used it a ton in my gallery. Love it for coloring things on colored card stock so that they are white instead of whatever color I stamped on.
You can see it here: Frog Gum Holder
I used it for the frogs eyes.

And here on this card I used it for the spots.
When She Was Good

And here on the Pirate Girl's Pants, I love how you can use your aqua pen and classic colors, color something in, then use the white to put spots on it. We also did the bones on the ship with it.

That being said, I like the Sakura ones too, but they seem to sink into the paper, maybe the glaze ones wouldn't. I only have the gelly roll ones.

Absolutely get the SU white gel pen. I had sets of other gel pens and had the same results you did. I had a hard time believing there would be a big difference, but it's 100% better. The ink rolls nice and it isn't too opaque. I use mine all the time!!!

Love the Signo gel pen. I've tried them all and it's the best I've found.

Thanks for all your input! That's what I love about SCS, everyone here is soooo helpful! I am putting the SU gel pen on the TOP of my next order. I couldn't believe how vibrant the frog's eyes were on the gum holder in post #8. That really did it for me, seeing that vibrant white!!! (Thanks Lisa C.) Hopefully someone else see's this thread before wasting all their money too!

You guys are great!

I also have a lot of good luck with the Souffle white pen... it takes a few mins to dry, but when it does, it looks great.

Just have to agree -- I had tried so many white gel pens before this one and was always frustrated and disappointed. I have thrown them all away!! I LOVE the signo pen SU sells! It is so vibrant, goes on really smooth, and even has a somewhat dimensional effect since it is so thick, so that when you do stitching, etc. it looks very realistic. I can't say enough good things about it.

The Signo pen is the best just barely touch the cardstock with it or it will streak. I too have thrown all other white gel pens away. I also love the souffle and glaze pens by Sakura.

I'm going to agree with everyone else. I <3 my signo it's awesome. I really like it for faux stitching. Back when gel pens first came out I bought tons of them. Unfortunately, very few of the work today.

Almost all gel pens that I have had I have problems with, especially the milky kind and glitter any color I have done away with them.

Another vote for the white Signo gel pen - it's the only good one out there, and I've tried LOTS. Linda

The Su! white pen ROCKS! I actually look forward to using it. I use to wince at the thought of uneven ink lines with my other pens.

I'm looking forward to it too! I love writing in white inside dark cards, but hate how I have to try to go over and over the same spot. It usually ends up looking kind of obvious that I had to do that. There are two cards in the gallery that I want to case but I will have to wait until I get the gel pen!

I love how this one uses the gel pen to fill in the flowers in the background! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

and I love the gel pen around this print pattern! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Neither of these cards can be made with my gel pen!

Thanks again to everyone for your input!!!!

Buy one from SU, you won't regret it. It is so smooth, you will wonder why you haven't had one all your (stampin) life. I've never had a hassle with mine. It works the first time, every time.

Smile White Gel Pens

I had a Stampin Up party yesterday, and one of the projects the demonstrator did used the white gel pen. She had the SU one, and an off brand. She told us to try them both, to see which one we liked better, and the SU gel pen won, hands down!!! Spend the extra buck, and buy that one!!! It rocked!!! Karen.

You will not be disappointed with the SU! White Gel Pen. It doesn't dry out like the others do and it writes very smoothly plus it's only $3.95! I use mine ALL the time and really love it. I've tried the others ... (why I don't know) but they were the pits.

Also wanted to mention that Staples in Canada has a whole set of Uni-ball Signo's in various colours, although white is not included with the set, but I'm heading out to buy the set, seeing as the white is the greatest !!

I have to agree...I LOVE my white SU gel pen. Had bad luck with many other brands of gel pens and was reluctant to trust this one but it is working great. The others would be fine at first but start skipping or quit altogether while there was clearly still lots of ink in the barrel.

The other day I started working with mine and it wouldn't work....I thought some unprintable things about it suspecting that I had been fooled and all that until I looked at it again closely and realized the reason it wasn't working was because I had used up all the ink! lol! First time a gel pen ever functioned long enough for me to actually use up all the ink in it...and it lasted about 2 years despite the fact that I use it plenty!!! So I ordered not one, but 2 new ones! ;-) I was a Girl Scout and you know how it is, Scouts always like to be prepared (even though that is probably more of the Boy Scout logo). Jan

The stampin up one is the best by far! Store it horizontally and it will last a long time - not dry up quickly like some of the other ones on the market.

White correction fluid usually works well on dark paper. I've used it for faux stitching, but never for writing. The tips are a bit thick. But I'm going to try an SU pen after all these cheers for it.

I would never have thought of white correction fluid! I bet it would work great though (the kind with the angled sponge tip), but certainly not for writing! Wow, the things you learn of this site... Amazing!

SU! Signo rules. I have 5 because I was afraid that they might be discontinued when the catalog changed. To my relief, it did not. The Signo White pen is great to put snow on trees among many other uses. Get one, (or 5) lol, you won't regret it.

I also went through a lot of white pens and finally bought the SU one a few months ago. I love it! I think have to two or three now for back up. It works so great. I had some friends over to play a few weeks back and they all agreed they had to get one too.

I have thrown away so many gel pens that didn't work, even fresh out of the package, until I got the SU signo. I have never had any problems with the signo and have never given any other brand a second thought since. Love it and use it often in my clsses and eveyone ends up telling the same stories.
Absolutely, get the SU pen. You won't have any regrets and it will be the last brand you buy.

I was actually disappointed in my SU white pen, especially after it had been talked up so much. I have high expectations, though. Pretty much the only thing that has ever given me the results I wanted was a superfine tip white poster paint Sharpie. Perfect white and easy to use. I had my Mother in law order them in bulk because I fear the day I run out!

I haven't found a white gel pen the equal of SU!'s. I also love the sparkly Sakura Jelly Roll pens.
