I need help ASAP, please!

I made a paint can for a gift for tomorrow. I made coasters, notecards, a matt for a picture, a frame with a verse in it, some note pads, some cute little bags of nuggets with the pretty stamped labels, fixed the handle with a billion pieces of ribbon (that was awful) but now I have no idea how to cut a piece of paper to cover the top!

I have the circle coluzzle but the biggest circle isnt big enough, I have searched the whole house for something that is the same size that I could trace around and I have nothing...what do I do? I really dont think that I can hand cutt he circle with no template and I have only one piece of the matching designer paper so I cannot mess it up!

Oh, and I have searched the forum and all I found was to use the coluzzle but like I said that is too small...

Could you paint it with acrylic paint instead?

Maybe cut multiple circles with teh coluzzle, and layer them on top of each other, so that they eventually fill the entire curve of the can? Then place one circle in the middle to cover a hole that would be left. It would be "artistic"

Thanks, that never crossed my mind, sense I have never bought acrylic paint. Is it the kind in the little bottles in the craft section? I think so...

Hi...For larger circles I have great success with the Circle Scissor from EK Success. This is a great tool to have around because it cuts circle in millimeters, therefore you will always be able to cut exactly what size you need. Although it takes a couple of tries to get used to it and is not easy to use for your smaller circles I believe you will be happy with this product especcially for the paint can. I checked to see if it would cut up to that size and it does. You can purchase them at Wal-Mart for about $10. Hope this helps.

Use the compass from a compass set if you have one, or what you could do is put a pencil on a string and draw a circle. First you have to find out the width you want your circle. Say it is 5 inches across, make your string 2 1/2 inches long. Hold the end of your string on a dot on the cardstock and holding your pencil straight up and down, draw around in a circle. HTH

This might be the answer my dh is looking at it right now using all the "math" words that I dont know and he mentioned a compass...I am searching dd's room right now;)

I always print mine off of the computer; just open up MS Word (or the like) and create a circle that's the right size - trim your DP to size (8.5 x 11")before feeding it through your printer and then print right on the backside of your DP - works like a charm!

Can you lay down the paint can on the paper and trace it around with a pencil then cut it out?

Can you put a piece of cardstock down ocer it and press a bit to make an indentation, then cut that? I have done this with odd shapes before and it works... Good luck! It sounds like a cute project!

I have heard that the Creative Memories circle cutters fit the top of the paint can exactly, I am assuming you don't have these though? Good luck!

OK, my circle cutting system works great for this just did a paint can what size??? Mine was a quart can. But before I remembered I had that my hubby found a Tupperware cup that fit perfectly inside the lid we traced that then cut it out. Worked perfectly, But you probably have the gallon size with all the stuff you mentioned for it. I hope that helps!!! Good luck

i like the computer choice but i am great with tha this how i do mine i use mod modge to adhere the paper circle (just traced and trimmed ) when dry THIS IS IMPORTANT (THINK WALLPAPER TRIMMING) trim with exacto knife. hope this helps.

My dh found a compass and did some measuring and traced the circle onto the paper for me, I cut it out and it fits perfectly, love him! I took some pics to upload on Monday!

I have heard good things about the CM cutting system, I will have to look into this more seriously as the coluzzle drives me crazy! There is always one side, no matter how many times I try, that is off just a little bit, it is so annoying!

I love this place! Where else can you get this kind of service??

What I always did for mine was used a compass with a pencil in it , try and find the middle on the top, and then put the compass to size (you know a compass from a math set?) and then drew the circle on the paper,and cut out. perfect size every time!
