I like using SU! eyelets...what are they made of? What are CTMH's made of? How about making memories?? I dont like the MM ones as I think they are harder to set...but I am thinking if ordering some CTMH ones from a friend but I want to know what they are made of first and if they are the same as SU!'s...thanks!!

I know that SU and Karen Foster eyelets must be made out of Aluminum. Because they work perfectly with the Silent Setter. Its made only for Aluminium eyelets. MM are alittle harder so there harder to set.

When eyelets started becoming popular a few years back, but demo told us that the SU! ones were made of aluminum, and that was why they were easier to set than all of the other brands. Times have changed, and I'm sure more companies are seeing the light of day with softer metal now, but I agree with mishy and know for sure the SU ones have always been aluminum...
All but SU's gold eyelets are made from aluminum (gold are made from brass to get a good "gold" color) - so that's what you need to look for when purchasing eyelets. I personally hate MM ones b/c whatever they're made of makes them really difficult to set and I usually ended up ruining a lot of cards w/ them.
Yeah they could sell a lot of colors as people realized they do want to just keep eyelets around to use, especially the neutral ones and main colors. I have a couple of fishing things full of eyelets. Okay, I have 3 of them, plus a bunch of stack and store from SU! I have a ton of eyelets of different sizes. You can get a plastic thing with compartments you make from enclosed plastic - and they are eyelet tight - in the sporting goods fishing dept. for about $5 for like 24 compartments. It's great.

CTMH eyelets are harder than SU!'s. I prefer CTMH because when you set them, they do no get that 'flattened' look on the front of the eyelet. Also, they set more consistantly than aluminum. You don't get that smooshed look on the back. Also, the entire eyelet is colored, so it gives a really finished look.
And, they come in sets of 100, so you can buy just the colors you want and have enough to do a big workshop!
