I have been stamping lots of tumbled tiles waiting for a nice day to seal them. So I went outside this morning and sealed about 30 of them. I just went to pick them up and they faded.
I stamped with Staz on and colored in with sharpies. SO I guess they would not be good to use as decorations in my garden since the sunlight faded the sharpies! The pastel pink, purple and blue faded to very light colors. They still look ok but not as vibrant as they were originally.
I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me. If you don't care whether or not they're "thirsty stones", you can buy the shiny ones - cheap - at Home Depot, stamp on them, and seal them. The color stays beautifully. I just use a spray-on acrylic sealer.

spray
I was told that the only spray that saves your colors is the UV clear coat spray by Krylon. I was making dominos and the lady that owns the LSS said that is what I should use. I wanted my colors to remain bright. Were you using that spray? Maybe try that next time??? I have never sealed mine and left them outside so I can't say for sure that it works.
